About the Role
We are seeking aĀ Senior Data ScientistĀ with expertise inĀ AI/ML-driven assortment modellingĀ to join our growing team. In this role, you will leverageĀ advanced machine learning, optimization techniques, and data analyticsĀ to drive intelligent assortment planning, category management, and demand forecasting in theĀ Retail/Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

Key Responsibilities
š¹Ā Data Exploration & Analysis
- Process and analyze retail data, includingĀ sales history, inventory levels, product attributes, and customer behaviorĀ to extract actionable insights.
š¹Ā Optimization & Assortment Modelling
- Develop and implementĀ mathematical optimization modelsĀ forĀ assortment planning, category space allocation, and planogram optimizationĀ to maximize business outcomes.
š¹Ā Machine Learning Model Development
- Design and buildĀ predictive modelsĀ forĀ choice modeling (e.g., Multinomial Logit, Neural Choice Models), demand forecasting, and product substitution effects.
- ApplyĀ advanced ML algorithms, such asĀ Random Forests, Gradient Boosting, and Neural Networks, to solve large-scale optimization problems.
š¹Ā Data Visualization & Storytelling
- Present complex insights usingĀ intuitive data visualization techniques, transforming raw data into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
š¹Ā Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely withĀ engineering and product teamsĀ to deploy AI models into production, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Requirements
ā
Ā Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher inĀ Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a related analytical field.
ā
Ā Experience
- 2+ yearsĀ of experience developingĀ optimization solutions and predictive models.
- Prior experience inĀ Retail/CPGĀ is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates fromĀ logistics, operations, finance, or technologyĀ with relevant analytical experience are welcome to apply.

Ā Technical Expertise
- Operations Research & Optimization:Ā Strong foundation inĀ mathematical optimization, with hands-on experience inĀ constrained optimization models.
- Programming Skills:Ā Proficiency inĀ PythonĀ (pandas, scikit-learn, optimization libraries) andĀ SQLĀ for large-scale data processing and analysis.
- Machine Learning Tools:Ā Familiarity withĀ PyTorch, TensorFlow, and other ML libraries.
- Big Data Processing:Ā Experience withĀ SparkĀ for handling large datasets; experience withĀ Snowflake/Snowparkis a plus.
- UI Development:Ā Experience buildingĀ interactive UIsĀ usingĀ Plotly or Streamlit.
- Cloud & Systems Architecture:Ā Understanding of large-scaleĀ cloud environmentsĀ and system architecture.

- Data Storytelling:Ā Ability to interpret complex data, create compelling visualizations, andĀ communicate insightsĀ effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills & Experience
āĀ DevOps & CI/CD:Ā Understanding ofĀ continuous integration, testing, deployment, and release methodologies.
