About the Role

Wallaby Search & Placement is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Software Engineer to join Instant Financial's team. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will lead their frontend development efforts and

establish technical excellence across our engineering organization. You'll be the primary decision-maker for all frontend architecture while building critical features.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role - expect to code 50-60% of the time while mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, and collaborating with product teams on our financial technology platform.

You Will

• Act as a technical partner to the VP of Engineering and collaborate on strategic engineering planning, roadmap sequencing, and prioritizing technical investments
• Take ownership and drive the development of large codebase surface areas while balancing new feature development and technical debt reduction
• Participate in root-cause analysis and postmortem discussions to effectively drive long-term operational health improvements
• Collaborate with front-line Engineering Leads on creating growth opportunities for the team, offering solutions to address technical skill gaps, and providing technical feedback.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and provide backup on-call to more junior engineers
• Identify and plan opportunities to transition legacy-based systems into modern, high-performance, reliable software architectures

You Have

• 8+ years of experience working as a technical contributor in a full-stack environment
• 4+ years of experience as a technical leader for cross-platform teams (backend, web, iOS, Android)
• Practice at owning and delegating technical design decisions
• Expert-level React and React Native with production apps
• Advanced TypeScript proficiency
• System design and architecture experience
• Full-stack capabilities (Node.js preferred)
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring
