The Role
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to serve as the most senior individual contributor (IC) on the team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives as a technical decision-maker, mentor, and hands-on builder, with an eye on platform scale, product velocity, and operational excellence.
As a Staff Engineer, you will remain deeply hands-on, expected to write code regularly while setting technical direction and mentoring others. This is not a purely architect-only role — your technical leadership will come from a combination of influence and contribution.
You’ll help shape the engineering culture, lead technical delivery, and ensure we’re building the right things — the right way — as we scale to support hundreds of thousands of players across the country.
What You’ll Do
What We’re Looking For
8+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 3 years in a Staff+ IC or Tech Lead capacity.
Proven experience making platform-wide technical decisions, especially in early or mid-stage startups.
Full-stack expertise, ideally with strong proficiency in:
Frontend: React, TypeScript, component architecture
Backend: Node.js, API design, server-side logic
DevOps: CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar), cloud infra (GCP preferred), monitoring (Datadog, New Relic, etc.), Kubernetes
Strong technical judgment with a bias for action and clarity — you document decisions, consider tradeoffs, and communicate well with engineers and non-engineers alike.
Track record of mentoring engineers and improving team velocity through better practices, tooling, and automation.
Comfort working in a low-process, high-autonomy environment where prioritization and adaptability are key.
Bonus: Experience in consumer platforms, marketplaces, or B2C growth engineering.
