Employment Type: Full-time, 30-40 hours Mon-Thurs

Reports to: Founder/Creative Director

Comp: 90k-120k, plus profit share

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on marketing generalist to help launch and grow a new direct-to-consumer brand built at the intersection of fashion, design, science fiction, and storytelling.

You’ll be the primary marketing lead for the brand, working closely with David and the leadership team to turn the creative vision into campaigns that build an audience and drive sales. This is a new unlaunched brand, but it already has an established audience that will carry over from the Volante Design customer base.

This is a senior individual contributor role: you’ll own marketing end-to-end and be hands-on, while coordinating freelancers/partners as needed (no direct reports initially).

Our website is our primary sales channel, so the role combines brand building, ecommerce growth, content, and customer acquisition.

What You’ll Own
Brand Launch & Campaigns

  • Help develop and execute the launch strategy for the brand.
  • Turn the brand’s creative direction into clear campaigns, messaging, and launch plans.
  • Lead marketing for new product collections and comic/story releases.
  • Build repeatable launch processes that we can improve over time.

Ecommerce & Growth

  • Drive qualified traffic and sales through the brand Shopify website.
  • Manage and improve the customer journey funnel from first discovery through purchase.
  • Develop and test paid/organic, email, social, and other acquisition channels.
  • Use performance data to understand what is working and where we should invest next.
  • Help improve conversion, repeat purchase, and customer retention.

Audience & Community

  • Help reconnect legacy Volante Design customers with the new brand.
  • Build new audiences across relevant fashion, sci-fi, gaming, design, and enthusiast communities.
  • Help shape social media and community strategy.
  • Serve as a strong internal voice for what customers actually want, understand, and respond to.

Content & Creative Coordination

  • Develop campaign concepts, messaging, email, social, and website copy.
  • Work with photographers, designers, video creators, and other creative resources.
  • Make sure the brand feels consistent across campaigns, product launches, social media, and the website.
  • Help connect the brand’s products and fictional universe in a way that feels natural rather than overly promotional.

Planning & Communication

  • Maintain the marketing calendar and keep launches moving.
  • Coordinate deliverables, approvals, and outside partners.
  • Meet regularly with David and the leadership team to review priorities and performance.
  • Clearly communicate what is working, what is not, and what we should try next.

What Success Looks Like

We’ll look at a mix of brand and commercial results, including:

  • A strong and organized launch.
  • Growth in website traffic, conversion, and revenue.
  • Successful acquisition of new customers.
  • Reactivation of legacy Volante customers.
  • Growth and performance of email, social, and creator channels.
  • Strong execution of collection and comic launches.
  • Increasing customer retention and repeat purchase.
  • Clear reporting and continuous improvement based on real customer behavior.

What you’ll do in the first 60–90 days

  • Build the launch plan + calendar (collections + comic/story beats) and define the repeatable launch checklist.
  • Audit and improve the Shopify funnel (landing pages, product pages, email capture, post-purchase).
  • Stand up a simple reporting stack (weekly KPI snapshot + channel notes).
  • Run structured tests across 2–3 acquisition channels (e.g., paid social + email + creators) and recommend where to scale.

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to check every box.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience marketing a consumer or ecommerce brand.
  • Can think strategically but is comfortable getting hands-on.
  • Understands both brand building and performance marketing.
  • Is comfortable working independently in a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • Can manage multiple projects without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Has strong instincts for customer messaging and creative direction.
  • Understands digital marketing metrics and can turn them into decisions.
  • Is comfortable building programs and processes from scratch.
  • Communicates clearly and works well with creative founders and leadership.

Nice-to-have tools/experience (add under “Who we’re looking for”)

  • Shopify + basic CRO (landing pages, PDP optimization, A/B testing mindset)
  • Email/SMS lifecycle (Klaviyo or similar)
  • Paid social testing and creative iteration (Meta/TikTok)
  • Creator/influencer seeding + affiliate workflows
  • Comfort working with a founder/creative director and translating vision into briefs

Experience or genuine interest in fashion, science fiction, gaming, design, comics, or enthusiast communities is a major plus.

Why This Role Is Interesting

You’ll be joining early enough to have a meaningful influence on how this brand’s identity is formed.

Our brand is unique in the fashion industry. We are building a ‘narrative clothing company’ that will evolve over time. Each collection will have a tie-in comic issue that gives narrative and worldbuilding context to the clothing, but the clothing also stands on its own as futuristic workwear that is designed and built to balance form and function.

Rather than stepping into a mature marketing department with established systems, you’ll help determine what those systems should be—and build the foundation for how the brand grows over the next several years.
