VERSA Agency is looking for a fresh face to join the team as a User Interface (UI) Designer. We are looking for an individual with roughly 3–5 years of industry experience who is most passionate about the visual interface stream within the digital design process.
Equal to any requirement for relevant industry experience and design certification, we are looking for someone passionate and innately curious; who can work collaboratively within a tight-knit team to improve design outputs and champion the UI design offering for the agency.
Responsibilities
As the UI Designer, your primary responsibility will be transforming wireframes, mockups, and low-fidelity prototypes into visually compelling, high-fidelity designs. This commonly involves applying existing brand guidelines or establishing new visual styles through consultation with your clients and their project stakeholders.
As a predominately client-facing role, you’ll be responsible for presenting design progress through formal and informal work-in-progress milestones. Being comfortable presenting, articulating, and occasionally defending your design vision to your clients is an important skill set, and previous experience or exposure to these activities is recommended.
As the gateway between design and development, you'll also be responsible for completing design hand-overs and creating, maintaining, or updating UI style guides and component libraries. Following the design handover, you’ll also be involved in the development process, working with Interaction Designers, Business Analysts, and Front-End Developers to ensure final outputs meet high design and usability standards.
Collaboration: working effectively with a range of internal resources. This will include working with Strategy and UX design experts to understand business and user needs, and with Interaction Designers, Business Analysts, and Developers to design feasible, high-quality digital solutions.
Moodboarding: conducting industry research, gathering appropriate design inspiration, and creating and presenting mood boards or style-scapes that reflect the project’s visual direction.
Visual identities: working collaboratively with your clients to optimise, uplift, or occasionally refresh their brand guidelines to meet modern UI and digital requirements.
Visual design: translating mid-fidelity wireframes, mockups, or indicative prototypes into polished, high-fidelity visual designs – ensuring consistency with the brand identity, business requirements, and user needs.
Design system management: developing and maintaining a UI design system for the agency, improving process efficiencies and design outcomes. This will include using a mix of Figma functionality to collect reusable UI components such as page layouts, universal features, and responsive presets.
Responsive design conversion: creating adaptable designs that ensure a seamless user experience across devices. Using Figma’s full suite of features to create flexible designs that reflow across common breakpoints.
Developer handover: ensuring all visual assets are organised, well-documented, and ready for efficient handoff to developers. This includes preparing component states and variations, specifications, assets, annotations, and interaction notes for IxD and developer implementation.
Qualifications
The following skills and qualifications are recommendations only. At VERSA Agency, we value the diversity of backgrounds, skills, and experience (both professional and lived) that each person may bring to the role.
