We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our on-premises and cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure, extensive experience in datacenter operations, and a solid understanding of VM management and AWS cloud services. This individual will be a key technical leader, responsible for both day-to-day operations and strategic project work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nutanix Infrastructure Management:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Nutanix AHV, Prism Central, and related technologies.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain the Nutanix cluster, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
- Perform routine and major upgrades, patching, and firmware management for the Nutanix stack.
- Design and implement scalable solutions using Nutanix to meet business needs.
- Datacenter Operations:
- Oversee the physical and virtual infrastructure within the datacenter, including servers and storage.
- Perform hardware installations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Manage and maintain datacenter systems such as power, cooling, and environmental monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with physical and logical security protocols.
- VM Management:
- Administer and support virtualized environments, with a focus on Nutanix AHV and other hypervisors (e.g., AHV, Prism management console).
- Manage the full lifecycle of virtual machines, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and decommissioning.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for virtualized workloads.
- AWS Cloud Administration:
- Administer and manage core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).Assist in the migration of on-premises workloads to AWS.
- Implement and enforce security best practices in the AWS environment.
- Monitor cloud resource usage and performance to optimize costs and efficiency.
- General Systems Administration:
- Provide advanced-level troubleshooting for complex technical issues across the infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline and improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support and planned maintenance windows.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, SOPs, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application and business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in systems administration, with at least 4 years in a senior or lead role.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism Central. Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of datacenter operations, including hardware, cabling, and environmental systems.
- Strong expertise in virtualization technologies, particularly with VM management and administration.
- Hands-on experience with core AWS services and cloud administration.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Prometheus).Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.).Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-haves):
- Nutanix Certified Master (NCM) certification.
- AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate).
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery platforms (e.g., Veeam, NC2).
- Experience with Active Directory, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems.
