Vast Ventures is a founder-led investment group acquiring and growing businesses in the US hardwood industry. We move fast, we're building the team, and we're looking for sharp people who want to grow with us.
Our operating companies — Root River Hardwoods and Bennett Hardwoods — are two of the Midwest's most respected names in hardwood manufacturing and distribution. Behind them sits a proprietary AI platform that ties the entire operation together. We're remote-first, with teams across the US, UK, Europe, and Asia — and we're now deliberately building our marketing function in South Africa. This is not a traditional industry player. We're building something modern, data-connected, and global.
The role
This is a group-level position. You'll be building the marketing systems, processes, and execution capability that sits across the entire Vast Ventures portfolio — starting with Root River Hardwoods and Bennett Hardwoods, and expanding as we acquire.
There's no handover, no inherited strategy, and no committee to wait on. You'll design the function from the ground up — the infrastructure, the playbooks, the channels — and own it as the portfolio grows.
What you'll own
The group-wide marketing infrastructure — CRM, lead tracking, reporting, and tooling — built to scale across multiple operating companies
HubSpot as the single source of truth for leads, pipeline, and marketing performance across the portfolio
Lead generation programmes across the operating companies — live, optimised, and tied to revenue outcomes
Coordination of external specialists: SEO agency, paid media, copywriters
Website performance across the portfolio's CMS platforms
The standards and playbooks that make onboarding a new acquisition into the marketing function seamless
What we're looking for
The environment
You'll be working remotely from South Africa, aligned to UK daytime hours, supporting a growing global portfolio. It's an international role from day one. In the early months it will be heads-down and independent — the right person will find that energising.
The group is actively acquiring new businesses in 2026. The marketing function you build will need to scale with it.
