Company Description
Vareon is building deterministic, steerable, transparent AI engines that replace fragile black-box approaches with physics-inspired dynamics and white-box, certifiable systems. Our platform is grounded in our novel proprietary Dynamics Learning & Modeling System (DLMS) architecture: a rigorous framework for learning, simulating, and governing dynamical systems with safety, validation, and provenance built in.
Two flagship SDK products power this mission:
- EntropyForce™, a DLMS-derived, defense- and OEM-grade randomness platform: a learned dynamical entropy engine wrapped with a health/safety shell (Guardian + P-layer v2) and a standards-aligned hybrid RNG pipeline (HMAC-SHA256 extractor → ChaCha20 DRBG). It is designed for mission-critical systems where traceability, robustness, and auditability are mandatory.
- EnduraForce™, a DLMS-based power, thermal, and endurance “brain” for devices and platforms. EnduraForce learns how real workloads consume power and generate heat, predicts safe run-time and component lifetime, and actively governs performance using a hybrid of physics models + learned residuals plus a safety shell. It ships as an on-device SDK (C/Rust core with bindings) for phones, tablets, laptops, servers, robots, vehicles, and defense platforms.
Role Description
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (C / Systems) for a remote, contract role to help build production-grade OEM SDKs for EntropyForce™ and EnduraForce™.
You will design, implement, and harden embedded software that runs on real hardware in high-assurance environments (mobile, industrial, and defense). This is not a “demo” role — you will contribute to SDK foundations that must pass conformance suites, support auditor workflows, and integrate cleanly into OEM firmware/software stacks.
What You’ll Do
EntropyForce™ (Randomness / Security SDK)
- Implement and optimize a C core SDK for EntropyForce:
- DLMS entropy engine runtime stepping (frozen model, deterministic reference mode)
- Health monitoring safety shell: Guardian + P-layer v2 windowed diagnostics
- Hybrid RNG pipeline integration: HMAC-SHA256 extractor → ChaCha20 DRBG
- Build firmware-grade interfaces: static allocation options, RTOS-friendly design, predictable latency.
- Implement conformance tooling:
- Known-answer tests (KATs), deterministic test mode, and cross-platform vector verification
- Bitstream generation harnesses for external statistical validation workflows
- Support OEM integration requirements (device entropy inputs, lifecycle hooks, health event reporting).
EnduraForce™ (Power / Thermal / Endurance SDK)
- Implement an on-device control/estimation layer that:
- Learns/updates platform-specific power & thermal behavior under real workloads
- Predicts endurance (battery life / mission duration / component lifetime)
- Enforces strict safety constraints via a runtime safety shell:
- thermal limits, power caps, duty cycle constraints, stability guards
- Integrate with platform sensors and controls:
- thermal sensors, PMIC telemetry, GPU/CPU frequency scaling, fan curves, load shaping
- Produce robust telemetry and diagnostic outputs for OEM tuning and validation.
Across both SDKs
- Engineer for mission-critical reliability: fail-safe behavior, careful error handling, defensive coding, reproducible builds.
- Collaborate with AI, controls, cryptography, and systems teams to bridge reference implementations into hardware-grade SDKs.
- Produce OEM/auditor-ready deliverables: integration notes, API docs, test plans, and evidence artifacts.
QualificationsRequired
- Strong experience in embedded C (and/or C++ where appropriate) with a track record of shipping production firmware/software.
- Expertise in embedded software fundamentals:
- memory constraints, real-time constraints, concurrency, deterministic execution
- debugging/profiling on target (JTAG, perf counters, tracing, crash analysis)
- Solid software engineering practices:
- clean API design, defensive coding, unit/integration testing, CI-friendly workflows
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail; ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Strong Plus
- Experience with cryptographic primitives and RNG engineering (HMAC, DRBGs, entropy handling, health tests).
- Experience with power/thermal management on mobile/embedded platforms (DVFS, thermal governors, PMIC telemetry).
- Familiarity with safety-critical development concepts (traceability, validation evidence, conformance testing).
- Exposure to physics-inspired modeling, control systems, or AI systems deployed on-device.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Contract Details
- Remote, contract role
- Flexible collaboration across time zones
- Work directly with the core team building OEM-facing SDKs for mobile and defense platforms
