VE is Looking for:
Senior Cloud Engineer — Product & Infrastructure
About The Client
The client is a high-growth cloud automation company building a product that productizes cloud engineering work across all major hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and emerging AI clouds). Our mission is to automate what cloud engineers do manually today — and our own cloud engineers are the product experts who make that happen. We sit at the intersection of cloud, AI, and security, and the expertise our team builds here is genuinely rare in the industry.
Our values: Integrity
Role Overview
This is not a traditional cloud operations or DevOps role. The Senior Cloud Engineer at the client wears three hats:
Infrastructure ownership — maintain and monitor the client''s cloud infrastructure
Customer delivery — lead hands-on cloud re-architecture and remediation engagements for enterprise clients (Azure-heavy involves live infrastructure with active workloads).
Product engineering — the primary focus. Write user stories, productize cloud engineering workflows, build and demo features in the client''s platform, and act as product champion for cloud automation.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Re-Architecture & Customer Delivery
Lead the re-architecture of a client''s Azure cloud environment — assessing existing deployments, identifying issues, and designing a remediated architecture without impacting live workloads or revenue-generating systems.
Engage directly with enterprise customers: requirements gathering, solution design, technical presentations, and workshop facilitation.
Handle compliance-sensitive environments (healthcare, finance) experience with SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, or NIST frameworks is a strong asset.
Transition smoothly from service delivery into product championing for the same customer.
Product Engineering & Automation
Write detailed user stories for cloud automation features own the full lifecycle from story to deployed, tested feature.
Productize manual cloud engineering workflows — identify repetitive tasks and translate them into platform capabilities.
Use the client''s own platform for your work ("eat your own dog food") — deploy AI agents using the product, validate outputs, and surface improvement feedback.
Conduct thorough QA and user acceptance testing on your own deliverables own your code end-to-end.
Track and manage product feature requests, bug resolution timelines, and delivery commitments (lightweight product manager hat).
Infrastructure & Security
Maintain the client''s multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP respond to alerts and incidents.
Apply security best practices across all cloud work: IAM least-privilege, encryption, network controls, secrets management, and RBAC.
Bring a security-first mindset to every architecture decision and customer engagement.
Work across OCI and emerging AI cloud platforms as the product expands.
AI & Emerging Technology
Deploy and validate AI agent workloads using the client''s platform understand how LLMs and AI tooling integrate into cloud infrastructure.
Critically evaluate AI-generated code — do not blindly accept outputs verify correctness, security, and best practices.
Stay current with evolving AI cloud services and incorporate relevant capabilities into product thinking.
Required Skills & Experience
Cloud Platforms
AWS — deep hands-on expertise: IAM, VPC, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and related services.
Azure — solid hands-on experience, particularly in infrastructure re-architecture, networking, and security must be comfortable as the lead engineer on Azure projects.
Multi-cloud mindset — ability to context-switch between cloud providers within the same working day.
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
Strong understanding of enterprise cloud architecture patterns: networking, security groups, VPCs, subnets, PrivateLink, IAM trust relationships, cross-account access.
Experience re-architecting or migrating live cloud environments — understanding how to make changes without disrupting active workloads.
Solid grasp of infrastructure-as-code principles (Terraform or equivalent) ability to write clean, modular, reusable IaC.
Container knowledge: Docker, Kubernetes (K8s RBAC, kubectl) experience deploying containerized workloads.
Security
Security-first approach to all cloud work — encryption at rest and in transit, least-privilege IAM, network access controls.
Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST, or ISO 27001) — either directly or through customer engagements.
Familiarity with cloud security tooling (CNAPP, SIEM, XDR, vulnerability scanning) is a strong plus.
Product & Communication
Ability to write clear, precise user stories and technical documentation.
Strong English communication skills — grammatically correct written and spoken English you will present to US-based enterprise customers and founders.
Comfortable facilitating technical workshops and product demos independently.
Proactive follow-through on commitments able to communicate blockers early and propose solutions.
Scripting & Automation
Proficient in Python and/or Bash for automation scripting.
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).
Comfortable with Git branching strategies and collaborative development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
GCP experience (note: GCP expertise is rarer in the India market Azure + AWS is the firm minimum).
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) exposure.
Background at or serving large enterprise clients in regulated industries (healthcare, BFSI) — experience with audit processes and compliance documentation.
Experience at both a large enterprise/SI (e.g., Infosys, Wipro, TCS) AND a startup — the blend of scale mindset and startup hustle is highly valued.
Prior experience in a product management or technical product owner capacity.
HashiCorp / Terraform background ex-HashiCorp candidates are of particular interest.
Familiarity with AI/ML deployment pipelines, RAG systems, or LLM-based tooling in cloud environments.
GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding assistant experience — with the critical ability to validate and reject incorrect AI outputs.
Cloud security certifications: AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or equivalent.
Why Join the client
Work at the convergence of cloud, AI, and security — three of the fastest-evolving domains in tech.
Build expertise across every major hyperscaler plus emerging AI cloud platforms — your learning curve here is unmatched.
Use the product you help build — your work directly impacts how cloud engineers worldwide do their jobs.
Early-stage opportunity with a clear path from individual contributor to team lead and product ownership.
Founder-accessible culture your input shapes the product roadmap and company direction.
