Essential Technical Skills:
- Advanced SQL proficiency - Complex query writing, joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) - Report design, deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in production environments
- SQL Performance Tuning - Query optimization, index analysis, execution plan interpretation, and report performance monitoring
- Izenda Reporting - Knowledge of Izenda report tool is a plus
Summary
Join the team that supports our Risk Management platform. You will build and tune SQL views and stored procedures that sit under a third-party reporting tool, create and enhance pixel-perfect SSRS reports, and drive performance improvements across a growing queue of reporting requests. The focus is support and performance, with strong ownership of troubleshooting and delivery.
What you will do
- Design, build, and modify SSRS reports, including scheduling and subscriptions.
- Proactively optimize SQL Server objects used by the third-party reporting platform, with a focus on complex and highly performant SQL.
- Diagnose bottlenecks, analyze execution plans, add or adjust indexes, and refactor queries and views.
- Reproduce, triage, and resolve customer-reported issues in partnership with support staff.
- Collaborate with a Product Owner and the Data Architect to clarify requirements and prioritize work.
- Document table relationships, context, and playbooks that improve support velocity.
Required skills
- Expert-level Microsoft SQL Server: ad hoc SQL, complex joins, window functions, stored procedures, and views.
- Proven performance tuning: execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, statistics, tempdb usage, query store, and workload-aware refactoring.
- SSRS development: parameters, drill-through, subscriptions, deployment, and security.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management, able to work with a PO and cross-functional teams.
- Self-sufficient problem solver who can reproduce issues, validate fixes, and close the loop with requestors.
- Critical thinking, methodical troubleshooting, and attention to detail.
Preferred skills
- Experience stabilizing or scaling reporting in financial or risk domains.
- Familiarity with vendor or third-party reporting platforms that rely on SQL views.
- Experience creating operational runbooks or support playbooks.
- Comfort using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
- Related degree: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field.
