On behalf of our client — a global leader in scientific, medical, and analytics information platforms- we are hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Python & Java) to join the AI Engineering division, focusing on scalable and reusable generative AI services.

Our client supports the global research ecosystem by delivering scientific publishing infrastructure and data‑driven analytics tools that enable evidence‑based decision‑making.

Role Overview

This role sits within the AI Engineering team, combining platform architecture, backend engineering, and AI integration into production systems. You will design and build reusable generative AI components, transform prototypes into production‑ready services, and contribute to the technical evolution of the AI platform.

We are looking for a senior engineer with deep expertise in Python and Java, strong architectural leadership, and hands‑on experience building scalable backend systems and AI‑powered services.

Contract & Working Model

• Flexible collaboration model: employment (CIM) or B2B
• Location: Romania — remote or hybrid from Cluj / Iași

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and ensure technical consistency across services
• Design and develop reusable generative AI services and components
• Translate AI prototypes into production‑ready systems
• Define and promote best practices (scalability, observability, CI/CD, testing)
• Work with Kubernetes (EKS) for scalable application deployment
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and cross‑team initiatives
• Stay up to date with advancements in generative AI and LLM ecosystems

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven experience leading technical architecture for large‑scale platforms
• Deep expertise in Python and Java
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tools & frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph)
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and cloud‑native architectures
• Track record of building scalable backend systems and APIs
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to architectural decisions
• Experience working in Agile or Kanban environments

Nice to Have

• Experience operationalizing LLMs or building internal AI platforms
• Strong observability practices (metrics, logging, alerts)
• Experience with knowledge graphs or semantic search systems
