Data Scientist

About the Role

Our client, a consulting firm, is preparing for several upcoming projects with financial services organizations and is seeking a Data Scientist to support these engagements.

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Python, skilled in statistical and machine learning techniques, and able to rapidly develop prototypes in a consulting environment. Experience in financial services is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy data science prototypes to address client-specific challenges.
• Apply statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to analyze complex datasets.
• Design, fine-tune, and implement natural language processing (NLP) models.
• Build and integrate AI agents and generative AI solutions into client workflows.
• Use generative AI tools (e.g., code assistants, LLM-based frameworks) to accelerate coding and model development.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Document methodologies, model assumptions, and results in a clear, consultative format.
• Support multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-moving project environment.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python and key libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow, spaCy, LangChain).
• Hands-on experience with machine learning, statistical analysis, and rapid prototyping.
• Demonstrated experience with natural language processing techniques and tools.
• Experience building AI agents and integrating LLM-based solutions into applications.
• Ability to use generative AI tools to enhance productivity and accelerate development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced consulting environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Financial services experience is a plus but not required.

Expected range: ~$125 / hour
