AWS EKS Engineer
6-Month W-2 Contract | Primarily Remote | Some Travel to Jacksonville, FL
We're hiring an AWS EKS Engineer for a leading company in the healthcare and insurance industry. This is a 6-month W-2 contract supporting a large-scale cloud modernization initiative. The role is primarily remote with periodic travel to Jacksonville, FL, making it an excellent opportunity for candidates located throughout the Southeastern U.S.
You'll play a key role in migrating enterprise applications from on-prem OpenShift to AWS EKS, helping establish a scalable Kubernetes platform that will support multiple future cloud migration projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support migrations from OpenShift to AWS EKS
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot production Amazon EKS clusters
- Manage container images and repositories using Amazon ECR
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Argo CD
- Partner with development teams to migrate and optimize containerized applications
- Monitor, secure, and optimize Kubernetes environments
- Create migration documentation, automation, and operational runbooks
- Support ongoing platform reliability, scalability, and performance
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
- Hands-on experience managing Amazon EKS in production
- Strong experience with Amazon ECR
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Argo CD
- Proven experience migrating applications from OpenShift or other on-prem container platforms to AWS
- Strong operational experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Solid AWS knowledge including VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and networking
- Experience working with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- OpenShift administration experience
- Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, or Kustomize
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, CKA)
- Experience developing migration automation and repeatable deployment processes

- Primarily remote
- Periodic travel to Jacksonville, FL required
