As we scale, we are looking for a data-driven, strategic, and hands-on Director of Growth and Performance Marketing to lead customer acquisition, conversion, and engagement to help small businesses and brands scale on Truly Free.
Position Summary
The Director of Growth and Performance Marketing will be responsible for owning and executing the overall growth strategy across ecommerce, digital marketplaces, affiliate networks, and other acquisition channels. This senior-level leader will focus on engagement and adoption of Marketplace and customers (small businesses and brands) which leads to high traffic and improving conversion rates. You will lead a small but high-impact team and collaborate cross-functionally with product, creative, analytics, and engineering to ensure a seamless and optimized customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the performance marketing strategy across paid channels (search, social, display), affiliates, marketplaces, email/SMS, and SEO.
- Drive customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth while maintaining efficiency targets (CAC, ROAS, LTV).
- Oversee website conversion rate optimization (CRO), A/B testing, user journey optimization, and funnel analysis.
- Manage and scale affiliate programs, influencer partnerships, and third-party marketplaces to expand reach and drive qualified traffic.
- Analyze data to continuously refine audience segmentation, channel allocation, messaging, and creative.
- Lead and mentor a small team of marketers and external partners, including agencies and freelancers.
- Partner with product, UX, and engineering to improve site usability, user engagement, and post-purchase experience.
- Drive strategic marketing and relationships; building a network of Affiliates/Influencers from your past relationships and partners that will join our marketplace.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, algorithm updates, and emerging platforms to keep the brand competitive.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in growth or performance marketing for DTC ecommerce brands, ideally in the health and wellness, CPG, or lifestyle categories.
- Proven track record of scaling digital marketing channels profitably and optimizing conversion rates.
- Strong knowledge of paid media (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok), affiliate networks, email marketing, SEO, and marketplace growth.
- A working knowledge of ecommerce stores or marketplaces similar to Amazon, Walmart, or TikTok.
- Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decisions and present findings to stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills with a willingness to be hands on side by side with the Affiliate Managers and Partners.
