ROLE DESCRIPTION

• Play a critical role in developing and optimizing algorithms across our three core valuation assistance areas:
• Geographical boundary selection algorithms that help appraisers identify optimal comparable property search areas
• Automated comparable property selection systems that accelerate the identification of relevant properties
• Advanced adjustment calculation algorithms that analyze market data to provide evidence-based value adjustments
• Lead analytical initiatives to:
• Improve model accuracy, reliability, and explainability
• Enhance the interpretability of our models to maintain transparency for non-technical stakeholders
• Develop rigorous statistical validation methods to ensure model robustness
• Collaborate across teams to:
• Work with data scientists to implement and deploy new methodologies
• Partner with engineers to integrate statistical solutions into our production systems
• Engage with product managers to translate user needs into analytical solutions
• Communicate complex statistical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

YOU BRING

• Deep expertise in Python and the scientific computing stack (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, statsmodels, Matplotlib)
• Strong foundation in statistical concepts, including Bayesian methods, maximum likelihood estimation, and common parametric and nonparametric statistical distributions
• Strong understanding of regression methods, including generalized linear models and regularization. Familiarity with generalized additive models is a plus
• Strong interest in building models that are interpretable, including to a non-technical audience, rather than just building models that minimize a loss function
• Experience analyzing real estate listing data is a plus
• 3+ years of professional experience in applied statistics or data science
• Proven track record of ownership and delivering results in a remote-first environment
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts clearly and concisely
