Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5 to 8 years of experience in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management.
- Hands-on experience with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, SaaS, cloud-based).
- Understanding of ITIL and IT Asset Management best practices.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail in license reconciliation and data accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- ITAM/SAM certifications (e.g., IAITAM CSAM, ServiceNow SAM Pro, ITIL) preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Software License Management:
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, interpret license terms, and maintain accurate records of software entitlements and usage.
- Build and manage complex licensing models and optimize our license usage based on key license drivers (headcount, volume)
- Must be able to configure licenses and related details in SAM PRO tool.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all software assets and their components to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide support to establish governance for purchase and renewal process.
- Manage software asset lifecycle across endpoints, infrastructure, SaaS, and cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of software licensing models (e.g., subscription, perpetual, SaaS, enterprise agreements).
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness across software inventory and reconcile against vendor agreements
- Operate ServiceNow SAM Pro and SAM Workspace, including entitlement creation, license compliance, reclamation, model normalization, catalog set up and maintenance, and workflow administration
License Configuration Support
- Manage and maintain over 200 license servers to ensure high availability and operational continuity.
- Validate license configurations in virtual environments prior to deployment. o
- Support a wide range of license managers including Flexnet, FlexLM, Sentinel RMS/Hasp, Codemeter, Ansys LM, PTC LM, Reprise, and Dassault.
- Maintain USB dongle infrastructure and diverse license platforms to meet enterprise needs. o Ensure license compliance through entitlement validation and regular audits
Audit Support:
- Prepare for and support internal and external software vendor license compliance audits by providing necessary documentation and data.
Reporting & Data Analysis:
- Generate and present regular reports on software asset status, compliance, and budgetary data to stakeholders and senior management.
Purchase & Renewal Governance
- Review IT purchase and renewal requests in alignment with ServiceNow contract systems. o
- Collaborate with product owners and SAM teams to identify cost-saving opportunities through license consolidation, reclamation, or migration to subscription/cloud models.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on compliance, usage, and financial insights.
Integration:
- Work with other IT teams (e.g., SCCM, Intune) to ensure effective software deployment, management, and tracking.
ServiceNow SAM PRO tool experience:
- Ensure alignment between CMDB and SAM records through regular reconciliations, data hygiene checks, and corrective actions.
- Configure and maintain ServiceNow SAM Pro module, including:
- Software Model normalization
- License reconciliation
- Discovery data mapping
- Deploy publisher packs (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM).
- Develop dashboards and KPIs for:
- License compliance
- Cost savings
- True-up forecasting
