Remote Contract Software Engineer (.NET)

The client seeks an experienced Contract Software Engineer to join their team for a 6-month remote engagement. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about building high-quality, maintainable software and enjoy working with modern development practices and architectures.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the client deliver robust technical solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes. This is a remote role, open to candidates based anywhere in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using .NET, .NET Core / ASP.NET MVC, and C#.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software architecture following best practices (e.g. Microservices, CQRS, Domain-Driven Design, Event Sourcing).
• Work with relational databases, primarily SQL Server, ensuring high-performance data access layers.
• Apply modern software engineering techniques including test-driven development (TDD), pair programming, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).
• Contribute to an inclusive and knowledge-sharing environment, mentoring peers where appropriate.
• Support the client in delivering technology solutions that align with their strategic business goals.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience with .NET, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, and SQL Server.
• Deep understanding of modern architectural patterns such as Microservices, CQRS, Domain-Driven Design, and Event Sourcing.
• Hands-on experience with best practices such as test-driven development, pair programming, and CI/CD pipelines.
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills, with a desire to share knowledge and continuously learn.
• Must be based in South Africa and available for remote work.

Start Date & Duration

• Start: Immediate or as soon as possible
• Duration: Initial 6-month contract with potential for extension based on performance and project needs
