The Lead Machine Learning (ML) Data Scientist develops actionable insights and recommendations in support of business objectives using in-house and external data sources. This position utilizes problem-solving skills to collaborate with business and data engineering professionals for timely and reliable delivery of data solutions. This role leverages the team’s deep expertise in data engineering, data science, advanced analytics, and insurance industry data to aid business partners in risk management, drive efficiencies, and improve customer experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate with technical stakeholders and business partners to understand strategy, objectives, and questions. Bring structure to business requests, translate requirements into an analytical project approach, and create visualization mockups.
· Acquire and validate structured / unstructured data to verify its quality. Conduct exploratory data analysis to reveal deficiencies and opportunities.
· Utilize Python programming and associated libraries such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, SciPy, pandas and numpy to create, train, test and implement traditional data science models.
· Visualize and report using dashboarding tools such as Power BI and Python libraries to support internal and external communication of research findings.
· Develop, own, and manage recurring analytic or reporting processes.
· Develop comprehensive documentation to communicate underlying data / tools framework and deliverables to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience as data scientist or statistical modeler, including the following:
· Knowledge of statistical and machine learning based methods using python libraries such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, SciPy, pandas and numpy.
· Proficiency in SQL and Python. Strong programming skills in Python libraries with experience using PySpark and Pandas for large-scale data processing.to clean, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources into unified datasets.
· Experience with data storytelling through visualization tools such as Power Bi or python based visualization libraries (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly)
· Hands on experience using python libraries (Python, scikit-learn etc.) to implement a variety of methods (e.g., hypotheses testing, multiple regression), exploratory (e.g., clustering, PCA, correlations), anomaly detection, and AI-ML techniques (supervised / unsupervised learning), , constrained optimization, forecasting, and, time series analyses.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong storytelling and presentation abilities to communicate complex technical concepts and insights to diverse non-technical stakeholders.
· Proven ability to lead and execute in client-focused environments.
The following work experience is highly preferred:
· Demonstrated proficiency in the development and implementation of Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications utilizing programming models such as BERT, NLTK, spaCy and large language models.
· Expertise in designing and architecting production-ready enterprise grade GenAI pipelines and prompt engineering techniques for large language models.
· Experience in Snowflake/snowpark cloud data platform and AWS big data stack (S3, Glue, EMR).
· Property and casualty insurance or financial services industry work experience including regulatory standards and best practices is a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS
AWS Certifications in AI or ML preferred.
LICENSES
Valid Driver’s License required.
