Totalmobile is committed to improving the lives of mobile workers through innovative Field Service Management technology. As the established market leader with over 400 staff across the UK and Ireland, we support more than 1,000 organisations and 500,000 workers in transforming field service delivery and achieving exceptional return on investment. Our product suite includes mobile workforce management, dynamic scheduling, lone worker protection, advanced analytics, asset management software, and rostering solutions.
One of our key products is Organise, our workforce rostering solution, which plays a vital role in the blue light sector. It ensures emergency service workers are in the right place at the right time, supporting critical infrastructure and ultimately helping to save lives.
We are undergoing an exciting digital transformation, transitioning Organise from an on-premises solution to a modern, cloud-based SaaS model. This includes modernising our technology stack, moving from legacy platforms to C#, .NET Core, and React.
The Role
To help drive this transformation, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who not only brings strong technical expertise but also experience leading or mentoring other people. Whether you’ve acted as a team lead or technical lead or have supported more junior colleagues in a mentorship role, we’re seeking someone who can guide others and contribute to shaping a positive engineering culture.
In this role, you will help maintain and enhance our existing VB.NET codebase while contributing to the migration towards modern technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, and DevOps, and be involved in technical discussions, architectural decisions, and delivery planning. You will also work extensively with SQL Server, creating and optimising complex Stored Procedures and Functions to ensure high performance and reliability.
Skills and Experience
We’re looking for a developer with at least four years of commercial experience, with strong skills in VB.NET and SQL Server. Experience in API development is essential, along with a solid understanding of software development principles. You should also bring experience in leading or mentoring others, whether through formal team leadership or by supporting colleagues in a collaborative environment. Familiarity with C#, .NET Core, Azure, WinForms, or WebForms is highly desirable, particularly in the context of modernising legacy systems. This role requires the ability to commute to our Birmingham office at least once a month.
If you’re collaborative, proactive, and excited by the opportunity to make an impact in a growing and innovative company, we’d love to hear from you.
At Totalmobile, we want all of our employees to feel valued, appreciated, and free to be who they are at work. We are committed to an inclusive workforce that fully represents many different cultures, backgrounds and viewpoints. We are dedicated to supporting inclusion and diversity at Totalmobile. We actively celebrate colleagues’ different abilities, sexual orientation, ethnicity, faith, and gender. Everyone is welcome and supported in their development at all stages of their journey with us.
