About the Role
Sniffies is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join its US-based product engineering team. The platform serves around 3 million monthly users and handles approximately 20 million messages each day, making frontend performance, reliability, and real-time functionality central to the role.
You will work in a modern Angular 20+ codebase, building and improving the experiences behind the live map, real-time messaging, subscriptions, advertising, and trust, safety, and privacy workflows. This is a senior individual contributor position for an engineer who can take ownership of features from technical design through release and ongoing improvement, make sound architectural decisions, and help maintain a high standard of engineering quality.
The position is fully remote within the US, with a preference for candidates in Central to Pacific time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development
Own frontend features from technical design and implementation through release, monitoring, and iteration.
Build product functionality using Angular, Capacitor, and Ionic.
Turn product requirements and design specifications into maintainable, well-structured frontend code.
Ensure consistent performance across browsers, devices, and mobile app environments.
Architecture and Technical Design
Write and review technical designs for frontend systems.
Evaluate architectural tradeoffs and recommend practical solutions that balance delivery speed, quality, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Lead complex work involving shared components, state management, routing, and API integration.
Performance and Production Quality
Improve rendering, state management, and network handling across a high-traffic, real-time platform.
Investigate production issues using Sentry, browser developer tools, logs, analytics, and QA feedback, then implement lasting fixes.
Reduce regressions and make frontend systems easier to maintain, debug, and extend.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with product, design, QA, and backend engineering teams to plan and deliver product improvements.
Support less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of professional experience building, scaling, and supporting frontend applications in production.
Strong, current expertise in Angular 20+ and TypeScript.
Significant mobile development experience, ideally with Capacitor and Ionic. Experience with React Native or native iOS and Android development is also relevant.
Demonstrated experience improving frontend performance for high-traffic, user-facing products.
Strong knowledge of frontend architecture, component design, state management, routing, and API integration.
Proven debugging skills across browsers, devices, client-side state, API integrations, and production systems.
Experience with accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, product, design, and QA teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with social media, dating, or other consumer-facing platforms, particularly products involving real-time or location-based features.
Familiarity with mobile release workflows, app store requirements, and native bridge integrations.
Experience building or maintaining design systems, shared component libraries, or frontend platforms.
Familiarity with backend development workflows involving Node.js, APIs, MongoDB, or cloud services.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release operations.
Salary and Work Arrangement
Salary: $152,000–$170,000 per year, plus a 10% bonus.
Location: Remote within the US, with Central to Pacific time zones preferred.
