Overview

Tonal is looking for a passionate Android software engineer to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design, and play a critical role in building the embedded application that powers the world’s most intelligent personal trainer. You will be given the opportunity to solve challenging problems in the development of software for a unique consumer fitness product. What You Will Do

Develop and maintain robust, complex features powered by intelligence, personalization, and computer vision
Participate in design, planning and agile ceremonies with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of product deliverables
Work on cross-platform engineering challenges to elevate the user journey and create seamless, engaging experiences
Contribute to the evolution of Tonal’s platform, by exploring new technologies, suggesting enhancements to development tools, workflows, and best practices
Coordinate with onshore/offshore teams to streamline the development/testing activities
Help build a quality-driven engineering culture that values innovation, continuous improvement, and team work
Troubleshoot/triage customer issues and perform root cause analysis to identify improvement opportunities

Who You Are

3-5 years of software development experience
Proficient in Kotlin, Java with backend services integration
Experience with embedded systems or connected devices on Android OS
Working knowledge of data analytics and logging tools such as Sentry, Amplitude, or OpenSearch
Familiar with source control management, build process, and CI/CD workflow
Good understanding of client-side architecture and design patterns
High attention to detail, both in code and UI/UX with a creative approach to problem-solving
Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Extra Credit

BA, BS, or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
Experience in hardware-software integration, computer visions and AI-based applications
Familiarity with Apple Health and/or Google Health Connect platforms
Passion for fitness, wellness, or health-tech industries
