Toast is looking for a Staff Android Software Engineer to take responsibility for building new, innovative solutions to expand how Guests interact and pay digitally with restaurants. As well as providing a cutting edge point of sale system for restaurants, Toast processes billions of dollars of payments through mobile consumer experiences. We need you to develop the next generation of digital restaurant payment experiences both inside and outside of restaurants. As a member of the Toast Consumer Pay team, you’ll play a key role in shaping and guiding the team that’s focused on building a consumer payment experience by building innovative features on top of our point of sale system as well as our consumer-facing applications.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

In this role, you'll get to work on Consumer payment initiatives, using your technical chops to create an excellent Android app that complements the iOS app and delivers an incredible digital payment experience. You will also build out the restaurant-facing experiences on the point of sale that restaurant staff will use to interact with their guests on our Android and iOS consumer apps. You’ll work alongside our Principle Android software developer to execute a plan to bring Android to feature parity, as well as run experiments, iterate quickly, and have a strong voice in shaping the future of the Consumer initiative. Additionally, you will:

• Work with fellow engineers, product managers and designers to build amazing mobile features with the goal of increasing consumer engagement
• Leverage your Android skills to architect, build, test, and iterate on both established and early features.
• Ship code that has a massive impact on the growth and strategy of Toast
• Experiment directly with Guests and Restaurants to test new dining experiences
• Champion best practices for development, deployment and quality life-cycles

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• 8+ years experience in Android development
• Extensive experience working with Java/Kotlin, with a deep understanding of testing, quality, and best practices
• Experience shipping production services and balancing getting things done with platform stability and reliability
• Focused on delivering positive impact for Toast customers
• Enjoys working in a team environment with a shared code-base
• Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.

Pay Range

$150,000—$240,000 USD
