Content Marketing Manager || Remote (US / Canada) | EST Hours | $85K–$110K Base + Equity
Are you the kind of content marketer who’s bored of “3 blogs a week” and wants to build something with teeth?
A Series A, VC-backed startup in the financial crime/compliance space is hiring its next Content Marketing Manager. The team has doubled in size from 30 to 50 people, is backed by investors directly tied to banks, credit unions, and fintech companies, and is selling AI-driven risk and compliance technology to institutions you’ve likely heard of.
They provide the screening, intelligence, and automation that lets those companies keep bad actors out — and stay compliant. They’ve raised their Series A, they’re scaling fast, and they’re now building a modern content engine around that story.
This is the moment to step in and own it
The Opportunity
This is not a “make some assets for sales” role. This is a high-visibility, high-impact Content Marketing Manager role where you:
- Report directly to the VP of Growth
- Partner closely with Demand Gen, Product Marketing, Sales, and the CEO
- Become a core voice in a category that actually shapes policy, banking, and geopolitics day to day
Your work won’t just sit on the blog. The content coming out of this team regularly lands in outlets like The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and The New York Times — because it’s based on proprietary internal data around real-world financial crime patterns, sanctions behavior, and compliance risk.
What You’ll Own
You’ll be responsible for strategy, creation, distribution, and performance. End-to-end.
Day to day, you will:
- Build and execute the content roadmap across various channels, including the blog, LinkedIn, email, landing pages, whitepapers, guides, webinars, in-person event collateral, and executive thought leadership.
- Turn internal data (sanctions trends, fraud patterns, enforcement shifts) into credible stories that executives in banking, fintech, and compliance actually pay attention to.
- Write thought leadership and POV content in partnership with leadership (including ghostwriting for execs) to establish them as trusted authorities in the space. castellum-ai
- Repurpose long-form assets into social posts, nurture sequences, outbound fuel, and sales enablement that drives pipeline — not vanity metrics.
- Own and evolve website and channel presence. The site is transitioning from Squarespace to Webflow — you’ll help shape how we present ourselves to the market.
- Work closely with Product, Sales, and Customer teams to ensure messaging aligns with real buyer pain points, not just marketing slogans. You will be the connective tissue between what we build and how we’re understood.
- Help build and scale our voice in the market — especially on social media, email, and our owned content — so we’re seen as the ones defining the conversation around modern compliance, not reacting to it.
Strategically, you will:
- Track regulatory changes, sanctions activity, and enforcement trends, and turn those into “we need to talk about this now” moments.
- Shape our themes, narrative arcs, and campaign angles — you’ll influence what we talk about, not just how we say it.
- Measure impact. This team is being built around accountability and signal, not fluff. You’ll help define how content is judged, influencing pipeline, relevance to ICP pain points, and channel performance.
Who You Are
You’re a builder. You like owning outcomes. You don’t need a 12-person content ops team to get moving.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 3–5 years of B2B content marketing experience (SaaS, fintech, compliance, data platforms, risk, security — all relevant).
- Has startup experience recently. You’re used to fast-moving priorities, limited safety nets, and high expectations. You’ve shipped content without needing five approvals.
- Writes clearly, persuasively, and with authority. You can take a technical or regulated topic and make it sound urgent, credible, and human.
- Is comfortable working across multiple channels: website, social (especially LinkedIn), email, webinars, resource hubs, and exec thought leadership.
- Can interview internal experts (Growth, CEO, Product, Risk/Compliance SME), pull out the real signal, and translate it into content that lands with decision-makers.
- Can do light data work: spreadsheets, pivot tables, basic charts. You’re not a data scientist — you’re just not scared of numbers. You can turn evidence into narrative.
- Cares about impact. You want to know if something you shipped moved pipeline, influenced a conversation, or armed Sales — not just “went live.”
Bonus points if you:
- Have written for or sold into banking, fintech, fraud, trust & safety, AML, sanctions, compliance, or regulated spaces.
- Understand SEO / AEO / distribution mechanics and how to repurpose content across channels for reach and conversion.
- Have ghostwritten for executives / founders and understand tone, presence, and narrative positioning.
We’re intentionally avoiding agency-first profiles. If your entire background consists of agency work across multiple clients simultaneously, without delving deeply into any one product, this likely isn’t the right fit. We need someone who wants to become an insider and own voice, not just produce on request.
We’re also cautious about pure job-hoppers. We’re building a lasting marketing foundation, not a revolving one.
Your Toolbox
- HubSpot, LinkedIn, and email marketing tools
- Analytics/dashboards / basic performance reporting
- Light design/polish in Figma or Canva
- CMS (we’re moving from Squarespace to Webflow)
Compensation & Package
- Base salary: $85K–$105K
- Flex up to ~$115K for exceptional experience and impact
- Equity is standard for every new hire
- Full-time role, reporting directly to senior GTM leadership
- Real visibility at the leadership level from day one
- You will have actual ownership, not request tickets in a queue.
Location & Working Style
- Fully remote across the U.S. and Canada
- You work East Coast hours (9–5 EST), so you’re in sync with Growth, Product, and Leadership
- Native / near-native English is critical — this role shapes external voice and narrative quality
- No visa sponsorship is available for this role
If you want to build the voice of a category — not just post content into the void — we want to meet you.
