Role Overview
This position involves leading the development, integration, and ongoing support of solutions built around BlackRock Aladdin and related trading systems. The role requires close collaboration with trading, operations, risk, and technology teams to deliver stable, efficient, and scalable platforms for front-to-back investment workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the architecture, design, and deployment of Aladdin integrations, including functionality such as trade capture, allocations, positions and P&L data feeds, reconciliations, and confirmations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across trading desks, middle office, risk, and operations to convert business needs into actionable technical designs.
- Manage daily production support activities—incident triage, root-cause analysis, system fixes, retrospective reviews, and continuous performance tuning.
- Build and maintain resilient components like APIs, ETL pipelines, data models, system adapters, and monitoring frameworks.
- Ensure all documentation—from design and process details to runbooks and operational playbooks—is complete and regularly updated.
- Collaborate with both vendors (e.g., BlackRock) and internal infrastructure teams to handle upgrades, patches, and environment management.
- Contribute to team development by mentoring junior engineers, assisting in hiring, and facilitating onboarding and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Implement automation across operational processes such as deployment, testing, and data integrity validation, while enforcing secure and compliant practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in software engineering, including 3+ years within trading, investment management, or middle-office technology.
- Hands-on experience building or integrating with BlackRock Aladdin or other large-scale enterprise trading platforms.
- In-depth understanding of investment management operations and the trade lifecycle.
- Proven ability to engage directly with stakeholders across trading, operations, and risk functions.
- Experience supporting production systems, resolving incidents, and implementing post-incident enhancements.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
Technical Expertise
- Programming Languages: Python, Java, or C# (Python/Java strongly preferred).
- Data & ETL Tools: SQL, Snowflake, and hands-on experience designing reliable data pipelines and validation processes.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalent cloud-native experience).
- Security & Compliance: Understanding of data governance, security controls, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial systems.
