Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to lead our digital growth. The ideal candidate must have direct experience marketing foreign-language textbooks, ideally through prior work at or consultancy with one or more of the major language publishers (e.g., Vista Higher Learning, McGraw-Hill Education, Cengage/National Geographic Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, or Klett World Languages or ebook distributors vitalsource, redshelf).
This is a hands-on, execution-driven role for a self-sufficient professional skilled in social media marketing, influencer outreach, email marketing, and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a cohesive digital marketing plan for our textbook series and upcoming online editions.
- Manage and grow social media marketing campaigns across Instagram, Google Ads, and TikTok.
- Source, manage, and coordinate influencers to promote textbooks and language-learning content.
- Set up, manage, and analyze email marketing campaigns using HubSpot and related tools.
- Build and manage cold-email outreach campaigns targeted at educators, departments, and distributors.
- Create original marketing content — including copy, visuals, and short-form videos — tailored to each platform.
- Track performance metrics and recommend adjustments based on data insights.
- Collaborate on metadata, SEO, and product descriptions for Amazon and other marketplaces.
- Maintain communication with university departments, faculty, and bookstores to increase awareness and sales.
Qualifications
- Required: Proven experience marketing higher-ed foreign-language textbooks in North America.
- Demonstrated success managing social media ad campaigns (Instagram, Google Ads, TikTok).
- Experience creating and managing influencer partnerships in education or publishing.
- Proficiency in HubSpot for email automation and analytics; familiarity with cold email strategies.
- Strong IT and self-sufficiency skills — able to independently manage digital tools, integrations, and analytics dashboards.
- Excellent writing and visual-content creation abilities.
- Good phone communication skills — comfortable speaking with language professors and department heads.
- Analytical mindset and comfort working with data to assess ROI and conversion.
- Understanding of higher-education marketing channels and faculty adoption cycles.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of French, Spanish, or German educational markets.
- Experience with Amazon Ads or online bookstore marketing.
- Background in metadata optimization for educational or print products.
Compensation:
Hourly rate, based on experience. Flexible schedule; long-term collaboration possible.
