Company Overview

The Olivia and Hill Press is a family-owned leader in language education and publishing, dedicated to bringing the world together through language learning. With over 40 years of experience, we have collaborated with top language professors across North America to help more than 2 million students enhance their language skills in a variety of languages including French, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Latin, and English (ESL). We update our catalogue with new editions and formats to provide high-quality educational content and launching an online service.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to lead our digital growth. The ideal candidate must have direct experience marketing foreign-language textbooks, ideally through prior work at or consultancy with one or more of the major language publishers (e.g., Vista Higher Learning, McGraw-Hill Education, Cengage/National Geographic Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, or Klett World Languages or ebook distributors vitalsource, redshelf).

This is a hands-on, execution-driven role for a self-sufficient professional skilled in social media marketing, influencer outreach, email marketing, and content creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a cohesive digital marketing plan for our textbook series and upcoming online editions.
  • Manage and grow social media marketing campaigns across Instagram, Google Ads, and TikTok.
  • Source, manage, and coordinate influencers to promote textbooks and language-learning content.
  • Set up, manage, and analyze email marketing campaigns using HubSpot and related tools.
  • Build and manage cold-email outreach campaigns targeted at educators, departments, and distributors.
  • Create original marketing content — including copy, visuals, and short-form videos — tailored to each platform.
  • Track performance metrics and recommend adjustments based on data insights.
  • Collaborate on metadata, SEO, and product descriptions for Amazon and other marketplaces.
  • Maintain communication with university departments, faculty, and bookstores to increase awareness and sales.

Qualifications

  • Required: Proven experience marketing higher-ed foreign-language textbooks in North America.
  • Demonstrated success managing social media ad campaigns (Instagram, Google Ads, TikTok).
  • Experience creating and managing influencer partnerships in education or publishing.
  • Proficiency in HubSpot for email automation and analytics; familiarity with cold email strategies.
  • Strong IT and self-sufficiency skills — able to independently manage digital tools, integrations, and analytics dashboards.
  • Excellent writing and visual-content creation abilities.
  • Good phone communication skills — comfortable speaking with language professors and department heads.
  • Analytical mindset and comfort working with data to assess ROI and conversion.
  • Understanding of higher-education marketing channels and faculty adoption cycles.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of French, Spanish, or German educational markets.
  • Experience with Amazon Ads or online bookstore marketing.
  • Background in metadata optimization for educational or print products.

Compensation:

Hourly rate, based on experience. Flexible schedule; long-term collaboration possible.

How to Apply:

Submit your résumé, a short cover letter highlighting your foreign-language textbook marketing experience, and 1–2 examples of social, email, or influencer campaigns you’ve managed.
