Senior Software Developer – FinTech Platform (Ruby on Rails)

We’re hiring a Senior Software Developer to help build and scale a financial technology platform used by thousands of employees and businesses across North America. This is a hands-on development role focused on creating innovative solutions that improve financial wellness, enhance user experience, and support rapid company growth.

You’ll join a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where engineering excellence and collaboration drive impact. As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll work on customer-facing products, internal systems, and third-party integrations that power a secure and scalable fintech ecosystem.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable web and mobile applications using Ruby on Rails
• Architect backend systems for flexibility, reliability, and performance
• Integrate with third-party APIs and maintain existing data pipelines
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues through creative problem-solving and data-driven analysis
• Collaborate closely with product, customer success, and finance teams to bring new features to life
• Participate in agile sprints, story grooming, and daily standups
• Contribute to code reviews, mentorship, and best-practice discussions within your development team
• Ensure adherence to secure coding standards and SDLC best practices

What You’ll Bring

• 4+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications in Ruby on Rails
• Strong understanding of software design principles, including SOLID, domain-driven design, and test-driven development
• Proven ability to handle challenges around scalability, concurrency, and background processing
• Solid SQL and data analysis skills, with the curiosity to dig into data to solve problems
• Full-stack mindset comfortable owning features end-to-end, from backend to frontend and testing to delivery
• Experience working in agile environments with tools like Git, GitHub, and Jira
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit

Bonus Points

• Experience with React or React Native
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments
• Exposure to BI tools (Metabase, Looker), ETL pipelines, or data engineering
• Prior experience in financial technology, accounting systems, or payroll integrations
