Job Title: Freelance Designer/Apparel Graphic Designer / Company: The Mayfair Group / Location: Remote with preference for Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary: The Designer will elevate Mayfair’s physical products by creating apparel, accessories, and other consumer products that align with the company’s vision and market demands. This role will manage the design process from concept to product with a heavy focus on graphics and graphic design while ensuring designs are innovative, commercially viable, and meet quality and cost standards. This is a highly cross-functional role and will help shape the next phase of growth for The Mayfair Group, enabling the brand to scale its impact while staying deeply connected to its mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creative development of seasonal collections from concept through production, including:
- Concept design
- Trend research and forecasting, concepting, mood boards, and color-story development
- Translate Founder’s top-line creative ideation into commercially viable and innovative product and graphic designs
- Graphic design
- Develop original graphic artwork and all-over print design based on seasonal campaigns
- Create production-ready artwork files
- Create hang tags, woven labels, and composition tags
- Scale graphics and on garment graphic placement
- Apparel design
- Fabric development for new categories
- Style sketching, CAD, and silhouette development
- Tech design
- Manage tech packs and spec sheets
- Manage samples: review samples, analyze fits, and approve sample remarks
- Translate self-guided research into seasonal collections that are innovative, brand-aligned, and commercially saleable.
- Lead, manage and execute all creative development for seasonal campaigns, influencer collaborations, private-label programs, and wholesale partnerships.
- Communicate directly with vendors to ensure all production needs and timing deliverables are met.
- Supervise freelance technical designers to support the execution of tech packs and sampling needs.
- Maintain design filing system for team/vendor access in an organized, up-to-date format.
- Own and manage the design calendar with production lead and C-Suite to ensure timelines are met from concept to production.
- Work cross-functionally with all team members from C-Suite to assistant level in Production, Sales, PR, Marketing, etc. )
Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of apparel & accessories graphic design experience
- Extensive knowledge of graphic techniques (embroidery, screenprint, appliqué, etc.) and how to set up artwork of different technical approaches for production.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
- Deep understanding of the apparel and accessories product lifecycle
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Knowledge of market trends and consumer behavior
- Preferred experience in designing and launching other consumer products (examples include journals, stickers, water bottles)
