Position Summary
GRF is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Communications and Marketing to lead the organization’s global narrative, public positioning, and strategic communications infrastructure. This role will be responsible for elevating the visibility of GRF’s mission, growing stakeholder engagement across regions and sectors, and delivering a unified brand presence across all channels—from institutional communications to public-facing media.
The Director will lead integrated marketing campaigns, content strategy, digital engagement, and partnership communications in alignment with GRF’s core values: collaboration, credibility, foresight, and impact. The ideal candidate brings a combination of strategic vision, editorial sharpness, design awareness, and global fluency, particularly in cross-cultural and multilateral contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of GRF’s global communications and brand strategy across all platforms and stakeholder groups
- Oversee and manage the GRF communications team, including content creators, media producers, designers, and digital coordinators
- Develop and manage a comprehensive editorial calendar for GRF’s annual programming, virtual series, publications, social media, and media releases
- Design and implement communications strategies to amplify GRF’s key initiatives, such as the GRF Monthly Series, Nexus Reports, simulation events, and the annual Geneva summit
- Develop strategic messaging and visual identity guidelines in alignment with the GRF and GRA ecosystem
- Oversee external communications and press engagement, including media kits, public statements, and coverage of high-level events
- Coordinate with GRF’s executive team, track leads, and the Central Bureau to ensure narrative cohesion across institutional and partner communications
- Support communications efforts for GRF sponsors, partners, and regional contributors
- Measure and report on communications impact across digital channels, media reach, and stakeholder feedback
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, or media in an international, multilateral, or mission-driven environment
- Proven experience in leading global communications campaigns, brand development, and high-stakes public engagement
- Strong content development, copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills, with a portfolio demonstrating excellence across multiple mediums
- Deep familiarity with international development, global risk, sustainability, and innovation ecosystems
- Proficiency in digital tools including CMS platforms, social media dashboards, analytics tools, and design workflows
- Demonstrated success working across cultures, time zones, and institutional hierarchies
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in French or another UN language strongly preferred
- Strong visual communication instincts and experience collaborating with designers and audiovisual producers
- Exceptional interpersonal, cross-sectoral, and leadership skills
