We are looking for a Project Manager who will be able to work with our team to manage the Farmer Network’s projects in Cumbria. The role will be for 4 days a week, or potentially full time depending on the candidate. Work will include:
•Managing funding for projects in Cumbria including monitoring outputs and budgets, managing coordinators delivering activity and submitting claims.
•Writing funding bids for future projects to benefit farmers in Cumbria.
•Organising and facilitating workshops on topics relating to the farm business and farm environment. We are particularly interested in someone who could coordinate and deliver activity in the South of the County as well as manage the work of our other coordinators based in North and West Cumbria.
•Advising the farming community on the Farmer Network’s services and membership benefits and helping recruit members.
•Identifying farmers’ needs, communicating those needs to the wider network.
•Keeping up to date with Farmer Network and wider industry issues by regularly checking and responding to emails and keeping abreast of current news and information of relevance to farmers.
Depending on the candidate’s skills and experience, the work could include advice on carbon auditing, grassland and nutrient management, soil health, livestock health, environmental schemes and farm business advice.
Responsible to: The Managing Director and Senior Project Manager.
Remuneration: Salary will depend on experience and skills but will be in the region of £32,000/annum pro-rata. Mileage expenses are paid at £0.45p per mile. The Farmer Network has a company pension scheme.
Employment terms: The role is part-time for 30 hours per week but, depending on the candidate’s range of skills and experience, this could be increased to full time. The role will include evening meetings with farmers and occasional weekend working.
29 days holidays per year pro-rata.
The initial contract will run for 24 months with a 6-month probation period. There are good prospects for the role to continue subject to the outcome of funding bids.
Office location: The role can be home based but with the option to work out of the Farmer Network’s office, Agricultural Hall, Skirsgill, Penrith, CA11 0DN if preferred. The successful candidate will be provided with a laptop but will be expected to have their own phone and car with expenses paid.
