Position Overview
The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring internal resources are aligned to meet project deadlines for a large-scale, multi-state fiber construction project. This role is responsible for facilitating completion of all project phases necessary to maintain client construction timelines. The position involves tracking progress, coordinating between teams, and compiling detailed updates and project information for the client. This position requires strong organizational skills, proactive communication, and the ability to keep projects moving efficiently.
Job Duties
- Manage internal workflow alignment and communication across teams supporting the client.
- Monitor project milestones, timelines, and deliverables to ensure work stays aligned with overall timelines.
- Identify and address process gaps.
- Collaborate with field teams to keep data collection on schedule.
- Track the design process to confirm readiness for construction.
- Coordinate with the client and third parties to monitor and track permit approvals and third party construction completion.
- Align with the client and third parties on final construction plans and readiness in advance of construction deadlines.
- Compile, maintain, and distribute comprehensive project documentation and progress reports.
- Provide detailed project updates to the client, including status summaries and action items.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve roadblocks and improve overall project efficiency.
- Prepare meeting materials, document action items, and follow up to ensure completion of tasks.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma with a minimum of 4-5 years of electric utility or telecommunications industry experience
- Required: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence, and direct team members. Exhibits a growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning.
- Required: Understanding of operations, processes, and standards in the utility industry or related field.
- Required: Understanding of contracts.
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience in project planning or construction management.
- Required: Obtain and maintain professional certificates and licenses commensurate with project requirements.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, anticipate consequences, and implement resources.
- Required: Strong communication skills including written and verbal. Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Draft intelligible, professional, and accurate correspondence in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Required: Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Identify, address, and resolve problems involving multiple variables and varied situations.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in project management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred: 5 years prior electric utility or telecommunications industry experience.
- Preferred: 4 years of experience in project management, project planning, or construction management.
- Preferred: Electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, and communication equipment identification capability.
- Preferred: Demonstrate proficiency in CAD/Outside Plant Engineering design software, PLA software, Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and data entry.
