Job Overview
As a Data Scientist specializing in Signal Processing, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing algorithms for analysing sensor data, radar, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and maritime radar data. You will work on a variety of projects that involve extracting meaningful insights from complex signal data to drive innovation and support decision-making by analyzing time series dedicated to anomaly detection and predictive maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in signal processing, machine learning and data science, with a proven track record of successful projects in this domain.
What Will Be Your Responsibilities
Profile And Requirements
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
Preferred location of working: UK, Portugal , France and/or Spain
Experience: 3+ years of experience in data science or signal processing, with a focus on analysing sensor data, radar, SAR, or maritime radar data.
Technical Skills:
Strong programming skills in Python, as well as MATLAB or C++.
Extensive experience in signal processing, with a strong command of advanced techniques such as Fourier analysis (FFT, STFT), wavelet transforms (discrete and continuous), and digital filtering (FIR, IIR design and implementation). Skilled in time-frequency analysis, noise reduction, feature extraction, and real-time signal denoising using both classical and modern approaches. Proficient with tools such as MATLAB, Python (NumPy, SciPy, PyWavelets), and DSP libraries for embedded systems.
Time Series Analysis & Anomaly Detection: Strong background in time series analysis, combining classical statistical methods with machine learning techniques for anomaly detection. Experienced in techniques such as autoencoders, isolation forests, and statistical process control (SPC) for detecting outliers and temporal patterns in sensor data and operational logs.
Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, TensorRT, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Experience with experimentation platforms such as Jupyter Notebooks.
Knowledge of radar systems and signal processing techniques specific to radar and SAR data.
Familiarity with data pre-processing and feature extraction techniques for signal data.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services, with focus on Google Cloud.
Experience in getting Machine Learning products to production.
Basic knowledge of DevOps best practices and tools: GIT, CI/CD, telemetry and monitoring, etc.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex problems.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Language Requirements: Advanced proficiency in Portuguese and English, with proven fluency at the C2 level in both languages.
