Role Overview

They’re looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with strong backend depth and confident front-end capability. This is genuinely hands-on — architecture, decisions, systems, debugging, standards — all while staying close to the code. You’ll influence how the platform evolves, how it performs, and how the engineering culture grows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Python and Django.

• Lead or contribute to architecture and system-level design decisions.

• Collaborate with front-end engineers and debug or implement features in React when needed.

• Work directly with the CTO to shape technical standards, architecture, and engineering practices.

• Own and evolve the CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure/AWS), improving reliability and automation.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and give thoughtful peer reviews.

• Mentor engineers and support a strong engineering culture.

• Leverage modern AI-powered development tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cody, etc.

• Model engineering excellence, autonomy, and curiosity.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience with a strong backend focus.

• 4+ years building production systems with Django.

• Mastery of PostgreSQL — schemas, queries, migrations, optimization.

• Deep understanding of Django ORM, transactions, and performance tuning.

• Working proficiency with React.

• Experience integrating third-party APIs and managing reliable integrations.

• Familiarity with AWS or Azure, Terraform, and modern CI/CD workflows.

• AI-forward mindset — actively using or eager to adopt tools like Cursor or Copilot.

• Strong problem-solving skills; able to research and execute independently.

• Ownership mentality; outcome-focused rather than task-focused.

• Growth-oriented — comfortable stepping toward Tech Lead or Staff roles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch.

• Familiarity with observability stacks: metrics, logging, tracing.

• Strong understanding of Azure networking and infrastructure.

• Experience with Metabase or other analytics tools.

• Exposure to AI agents, LLM-based systems, or intelligent automation.

• Prior experience as Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Architect.

• Knowledge of microservices, event-driven systems, Docker, or Kubernetes.

• Experience working with distributed or nearshore teams.

• Strategic and action-oriented decision maker.
