This role is with a stealth-mode, funded startup working in the productivity space. The company is currently in early development, with a small founding team committed to crafting a high-impact, elegantly simple product. The goal is to deliver something truly intuitive—software that “just works” for the vast majority of users straight out of the box, with minimal customization needed.
About the Role
We’re searching for a heuristic-focused UI/UX centric Product Designer to become a foundational part of this product's development. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from zero, and is passionate about crafting clean, user-centered design that solves real problems—not just adding polish for polish’s sake.
You'll collaborate directly with the technical founder and core engineer to lead the design vision, strategy, and execution. Your work will shape the first public release, so we’re looking for someone who’s just as thoughtful about interaction models as they are about aesthetics.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end design process—from ideation and user flows to wireframes and hi-fi mockups
- Create simple, elegant solutions that reduce cognitive load and emphasize usability
- Work closely with engineering to ensure design intent is translated into a consistent user experience
- Advocate for best-in-class design practices grounded in human behavior and heuristics
- Iterate based on feedback, testing, and instinct—while holding the line on a strong, coherent vision
- Help establish the design culture and processes at the company
Who You Are
- A product-minded designer who deeply understands user psychology and decision-making
- Comfortable operating independently and proactively in a low-structure, high-ownership environment
- Excited about crafting polished experiences from the ground up and being part of an early-stage journey
- Opinionated, but flexible—someone who can balance design purity with pragmatic product decisions
- A portfolio that showcases smart, user-focused thinking as much as it does visual talent
What We’re Looking For
- Experience designing SaaS or productivity tools (especially at early-stage startups)
- Strong command of UX heuristics, interaction design, and user research fundamentals
- Fluent with design tools like Figma, Sketch, or similar
- An aesthetic sensibility aligned with clean, intuitive, Apple-style design principles
- No fixed years of experience required... quality > quantity
Why Join
- Influence product direction from day one
- Work with a small, driven team backed by early funding
- Build something you’re proud of—polished, cohesive, and truly useful from the start
- Flexible work environment, with a focus on outcomes over optics
