We are looking for a remote team member located on southern Vancouver Island or in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver).
Would you love to grow your career in a small company where the software you write is used by the utilities keeping the power on and the world moving forward? If so, we want to hear from you.
TallSky Consulting Group is recruiting for a Senior Full Stack Developer on behalf of Delta-X Research – a nimble and growing Victoria, BC-based company serving the electric power industry.
Why Join Delta-X Research?
Our client, Delta-X Research, is a Canadian-owned company that builds science-based decision-support tools for the electric power industry. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will make critical contributions to the product across the entire software and infrastructure stack, working with modern technologies alongside a small team of talented, low-ego, kind people. You will collaborate with other developers and with business stakeholders to build the right thing, and you will have opportunities to mentor and to be mentored.
Delta-X Research offers a competitive salary of $104,000 – $125,800 per year to start (based on related education and experience) plus profit sharing. Additional benefits include medical, dental, life insurance and long-term disability, 3 weeks of vacation with room to grow, and a remote work environment built on trust and flexibility with plenty of opportunities to learn and expand into new areas as the company scales.
The development team works in what Delta-X Research describes as a craftspeople-not-labourers, best-idea-wins, sustainable culture. It is a team that values thoughtful communication, shared wins, and work-life balance, where technical decisions are made on their merits and nobody is asked to sprint indefinitely. This is a small team where people talk to each other daily, and the work goes better when you enjoy that.
A word about working together in person. While this role is primarily remote, the software development team meets in person in Victoria at least quarterly for planning, architecture, and team building.
The Senior Full Stack Developer’s Key Responsibilities Include:
Software Development and Technical Ownership: Own the development, deployment, and maintenance of complex software solutions and supporting infrastructure for the data acquisition and diagnostic challenges of high-voltage equipment. Take on work that is not fully defined at the outset, shape the approach with stakeholders, make and record the technical decisions, and resolve the complex defects others have been unable to isolate.
Code Quality, Security and Development Practices: Help set and maintain coding standards, security guidelines, technical documentation, and automated testing strategies. Conduct code reviews that support quality and maintainability, and help keep the team current with a fast-moving cybersecurity landscape.
Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Serve as a source of technical guidance and a point of escalation for complex problems. Mentor less experienced developers through pairing, code review, and day-to-day support, and lead development projects without holding supervisory responsibility.
Collaboration and Project Planning: Work with Product Development, Product Management, Research, and Customer Operations to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Estimate work where the problem definition is still incomplete, support customers on escalated technical issues, and look for ways to improve development workflows and tooling.
