Senior Software Engineer, Media Foundations

2. About the Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer, Media Foundations will lead the development of the next generation of media infrastructure, focusing on the ingestion, processing, storage, and delivery of video and audio content. This role is key to supporting the media product strategy by solving complex technical challenges and ensuring high-quality media experiences are delivered globally.

3. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to build innovative media products and features.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code and design documents, and provide feedback on product specifications.
• Uphold and contribute to development standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers to enhance their technical skills.
• Balance speed and quality in product development to avoid critical bugs.
• Work with client and platform engineers to optimize media performance worldwide.

4. Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience in languages such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• Proficiency with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, and API design.
• Experience with distributed caching and large-scale data storage systems like Redis.
• Knowledge of image processing and delivery technologies including image scaling and formats like progressive JPEG and WebP.
• Familiarity with streaming protocols (HLS, MPEG-DASH, MP4) and video compression standards (H.264, H.265/HEVC, VP9, AV1).
• Strong organizational and communication skills suitable for remote collaboration.

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Base salary range: $190,000—$267,000 USD.
• Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
• Potential eligibility for commission depending on position.
