Senior AI Product Engineer – Full Stack

About the Role

Traction is an Australian AI product studio building AI-powered products and solutions for businesses across professional services, financial services, government and technology.

We are hiring our first Senior Engineer in India. This is a hands-on, end-to-end product engineering role where you will own solutions from understanding the business problem through development, deployment and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand client business problems and identify opportunities where AI can create real value.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into practical product and technical solutions.
• Design and build end-to-end software products, including data models, APIs, interfaces and AI workflows.
• Build and deploy AI/LLM-powered applications such as agents, RAG systems and tool-calling workflows.
• Own applications in production and continuously improve them based on real-world usage.
• Make key technical decisions around architecture, build vs. buy and implementation approach.
• Work closely with clients and senior stakeholders and communicate technical decisions clearly.
• Use AI coding agents effectively as part of the development workflow.

What We're Looking For

• 7–11 years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on development experience.
• Strong full-stack / product engineering background with experience building software end-to-end.
• Proven experience building and shipping production systems used by real users.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/LLM applications.
• Experience with AI agents, RAG, tool calling or similar LLM-based workflows.
• Strong practical experience with coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.
• Excellent engineering judgement, including the ability to identify and validate incorrect AI-generated code or output.
• Ability to take ownership, work independently and challenge unclear or incorrect requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and product thinking skills.
• Ability to quickly understand new businesses, domains and customer problems.
• Excellent spoken and written English with confidence in client-facing discussions.

Technology

The team primarily works with TypeScript, Python and React, along with modern AI/LLM technologies.

Strong engineers from other technology backgrounds can also be considered if they demonstrate strong product engineering capability and the ability to learn quickly.

Work Arrangement

• Fully remote – anywhere in India
• Full-time role
• Minimum 4 hours of overlap with Australian working hours
• In practice, the role generally requires availability from around 8 AM IST
