Senior Python Developer

Coplanet AG is a Switzerland-based AI company building a next-generation agentic AI platform. Our mission is to create intelligent AI agents capable of autonomously performing complex tasks and workflows. The product is currently in beta and preparing for commercial launch within the coming months. As we scale, we are expanding our European engineering team and looking for experienced software engineers who want to help shape a cutting-edge AI product from an early stage.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with a strong software engineering background to join our growing engineering team. This role is focused on building production-grade backend systems that power our AI platform. We are looking for engineers who understand how to design, build, and operate scalable applications—not data scientists who primarily use Python for analytics or experimentation. You will work closely with a highly skilled international engineering team, contributing to system architecture, backend development, infrastructure, and product scalability as we prepare for market launch.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
• Build reliable, secure, and high-performance APIs and distributed systems
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver new platform capabilities
• Improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Support cloud-native deployments and infrastructure improvements
• Help shape the future technical direction of the platform

Requirements

Must Have

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong expertise in Python development
• Solid background in backend engineering and application architecture
• Experience designing and building scalable production systems
• Strong understanding of software design principles and engineering best practices
• Hands-on experience with system design and distributed architectures
• Experience working with cloud environments, preferably AWS
• Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, international environment
• Fluent English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI-powered products or platforms
• Experience with agentic AI systems, LLM applications, or orchestration frameworks
• Familiarity with React and modern frontend technologies
• Experience in high-growth startup environments
• Knowledge of MLOps or AI infrastructure
