Due to growth, we have a newly created Communications and Marketing Specialist role—an exciting opportunity to make an impact in the education sector.
The Centre for Education Systems (CES) is dedicated to improving education outcomes by learning from systems worldwide. We work to make a lasting impact on the lives of children, young people, and educators by engaging with senior policymakers, funders, and influential stakeholders in the education sector.
As our Communications and Marketing Specialist, you will drive our engagement strategy, ensuring our research and insights reach the right audiences in compelling and accessible ways. You’ll use a combination of digital tools, AI-enhanced productivity solutions, and creative storytelling to shape impactful conversations. You will also attend occasional events in the UK.

Are you the right person for us?
- 5+ years of experience in communications and marketing, potentially, but not necessarily in the education, policy, or non-profit sector
- Comfortable using a wide range of digital marketing tools, including content management systems (CMS), email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp), and social media platforms
- Familiar with popular AI search tools and comfortable to integrate these into working routines and ad-hoc tasks and projects
- Experience with website platforms like Wix, including basic content updates, adding new pages, and troubleshooting minor issues
- Ability to digest and summarise reports, research papers, and policy documents into concise and engaging content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently to senior policymakers and key stakeholders
- Ability to think creatively and strategically while also analysing data to optimise marketing efforts
- Proficiency in design tools to create high-quality visuals for presentations, social media, and marketing materials
- Experience with video editing, content creation and publishing
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working with data models, using Excel to organise and analyse marketing performance data
- Knowledge of SEO and Google Ads
- Preferably an interest in education, policy and research
What will your role as a (role) look like?
- Develop and execute communication strategies aimed at a range of stakeholder groups, ensuring our messages are clear, relevant, and impactful. Use common AI tools, here and elsewhere, to enhance productivity and accuracy
- Produce engaging content, often tailored to specific groups, for social media, newsletters, emails, and reports. You will help shape conversations by distilling complex ideas into clear, concise messages
- Ensure all communication maintains consistency in tone and message
- Maintain our website (e.g., Wix or similar), ensuring content is up-to-date
- Organise and manage small-scale, high-impact events such as roundtables, webinars, and online meetings. Take responsibility from registration to post-event follow-ups
- Produce video content tailored to this specific audience, such as interviews, policy discussions, or educational insights. You’ll edit and publish these materials for effective distribution
- Use design tools to create high-quality graphics and visuals that complement the messaging and policy-oriented materials
- Utilise SEO best practices to optimise content and use analytics tools to track engagement
- Confidently communicate with senior policymakers, advisers, funders, stakeholders and journalists
- Create visually appealing and professional templates for presentations and reports
- Demonstrate an understanding of education research by staying up-to-date with CES studies and reports, and general trends in the education sector.
