Job Title: Android Developer -Software Engineer II
Location: Remote – USA (West Coast Preferred)
Duration: 09+ Months and extendable
Rate: $80-$84/hr on W2
About the Role:
- We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and evaluate software and systems for Android OS-based applications, with potential cross-platform work for iOS. The engineer will work on next-generation consumer hardware integrations, improve software stability, and ensure high-quality feature delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications for Android smartphones using modern Android tech stack.
- Enhance quality and stability of software products; identify bugs and increase test coverage.
- Integrate new hardware with existing companion apps on Android and iOS.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement system changes as needed.
- Coordinate feature launches across multiple teams while maintaining quality standards.
- Work with Android-based consumer hardware; flash firmware and use command-line tools to change device states.
- Introduce new features in device setup flows and monitor rollout dashboards.
- Improve design system with new components and API design.
- Write extensive unit and integration tests for design components.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant field.
- Strong experience in Android development.
- Expertise with Jetpack Compose.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects.
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- iOS development experience.
- Experience building design system/UI-heavy apps.
- Backend development (Hack, PHP, or similar).
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or maintaining a public Github repository.
- Experience at large technology companies preferred.
- Cross-platform experience (Android and iOS).
