If you’re someone who has a ship it mentality, and understands game engines from a game designer or indie game developer perspective then this role could be for you!
Using your technical skills, and your ability to continuously ask “will this help our game devs” - you’ll be our go to person for ensuring our products are easy to use with Unreal and Godot.
You’ll mentor more junior members of the team, while providing guidance, support, and technical expertise throughout development of our products, collaborating with our Support and Technical & Art teams to ensure high-quality production.
Day to day you'll:
- Work with Directors to define key metrics to measure Unreal & Godot product success
- Participate in overall product planning with teams. Gathering input from customers (through the Community team) and Directors to plan and estimate work.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Directors to improve Synty’s product offerings on Unreal and Godot, taking ownership to be the technical expert.
- Work to solve complex challenges, optimize performance, and improve the overall quality of our products across Unreal and Godot.
- Integrate assets from other teams and disciplines with a good eye for feel and timing.
- Lead the conversion of FX, shaders, collisions, and models for products in Unreal and Godot
- Mentor and provide guidance to more junior developers, fostering their growth and development in Unreal and Godot development best practices.
- Help direct or execute technical research, staying updated on new technical and technological developments.
- Develop prototypes or proof-of-concept implementations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, automations and workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and productivity.
