Job Title: Senior UX Designer (Design Systems & E-Commerce Focus)

Location: Remote (U.S. based – CST or EST working hours required)

Employment Type: W2 Contract through 9/15, with high likelihood of extension

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from scratch, and brings deep expertise in design systems. This is a high-impact opportunity to lay the groundwork for a scalable, modern design foundation within a company that's just beginning its UX journey. You'll be leading a new initiative, working closely with engineers to bring it to life—and you’ll need equal parts design leadership, project management chops, and strategic communication savvy.

If you’re comfortable advocating for UX in an environment with low design maturity, and you know how to guide, negotiate, and navigate pushback with confidence—this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do

• Own and evolve the design system from the ground up, ensuring scalable, accessible, and maintainable UI components
• Partner closely with engineering to drive implementation and consistency across products
• Act as a project manager, maintaining timelines, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring deliverables stay on track
• Educate teams on UX best practices and advocate for design thinking across departments
• Present and defend design decisions with strong rationale, balancing user needs and business goals
• Navigate a lower UX maturity environment with empathy, patience, and strategic influence

What We’re Looking For

• 5–7+ years of UX design experience with a strong portfolio, including design systems work
• Strong understanding of component-driven design and atomic design principles
• Comfortable managing projects end-to-end, especially in startup or low-maturity environments
• Proven ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders, especially non-designers
• Experience collaborating with engineers and shipping in iterative, agile environments
• Background in e-commerce strongly preferred
• Bonus: experience or familiarity with engineering, especially front-end technologies

Additional Details

• Remote position; candidates must be U.S.-based, CST or EST working hours required
• Contract through September 15, with high likelihood of extension
• You’ll work closely with a small team of engineers to execute and scale the design system initiative

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $45.00 to $60.00/hr.
