Job Title: UX Designer – AI Innovation Team (Contract)

Location: Remote-flexible (Preferred within 180 miles of Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Bloomington; Chicago may qualify)

Employment Type: W2 Contract

Level: Intermediate to Senior

Start Date: Expected within 1–2 weeks

Pay Rate: Market-competitive (based on level and hybrid AI/UX skillset)

Overview

Our client is undergoing a major transformation, embracing AI as a core capability across its enterprise. With a dozen generative AI pilot projects in progress and full executive buy-in, a dedicated AI + UX team is being formed to reimagine both customer experiences and internal workflows through the lens of intelligent systems.

We’re seeking a curious, systems-minded UX Designer to join this newly forming group. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional partners and prototype human-centered solutions using emerging AI technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Design and prototype AI-powered user experiences for both customer-facing and internal tools
• Reimagine chatbot interfaces and explore use cases for AI-driven personalization of complex information
• Collaborate closely with engineers and AI specialists to align on feasibility and execution
• Use tools such as Figma AI, ChatGPT image features, and an internal GenAI sandbox to rapidly explore solutions
• Help establish design norms and best practices for an AI-first team environment
• Bring strong soft skills and a user-centered mindset to a fast-moving, experimental environment

Who You Are

• A well-rounded UX or interaction designer with 3–7 years of experience
• Passionate about the intersection of design and AI, and eager to learn new tools and techniques
• Comfortable prototyping, thinking in systems, and communicating clearly across disciplines
• Technically aware but not expected to code—able to work fluidly with engineers and technical constraints
• Strong in collaboration, adaptability, and design thinking
• Bonus if you’ve explored AI tooling in your workflow or have light CS or prototyping experience

• Design stack includes: Figma AI, ChatGPT (image capabilities), and a proprietary GenAI sandbox for rapid prototyping

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $60.00 to $75.00/hr.
