Staff Software Engineer

Sync is a personal assistant for diabetes that helps people make the best decisions by unifying health data and making daily management more practical, faster, and more accurate. Our app consolidates glucose measurements, insulin injections, carb counting, and many other health metrics in one place.

We are a small, early-stage startup of 10 experienced people looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead and scale our technology.

What You’ll Do

Architect and Develop - Work with our NestJS backend, Flutter mobile app, and Google Cloud infrastructure to deliver a robust, high-quality product.

Observability & Monitoring - Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting with Sentry (for errors) and Grafana (for infrastructure), ensuring performance and reliability.

Technical Leadership - Define best practices, lead code reviews, guide system architecture decisions, and maintain a high bar for code quality and performance.

Process & Team Growth - Proactively improve development processes (CI/CD, Agile workflows), support hiring, and help define on-call procedures.

Ownership & Autonomy - Drive initiatives from ideation to production, influencing the tech culture and strategic direction of the company.

What We’re Looking For

Extensive Experience - Proven track record in a senior/staff engineering role, preferably in startup or scale-up environments.

Adaptability & Learning: Comfortable learning new technologies and frameworks quickly. While we use NestJS, Flutter, and Google Cloud, we value strong fundamentals more than specific framework knowledge.

Monitoring & Observability - Comfortable with tools like Grafana, Sentry, and other metrics/logging solutions.

Leadership & Communication - History of mentoring engineers, improving team processes, and collaborating cross-functionally.

Proactive & Collaborative - Able to identify challenges, propose solutions, and rally the team toward common goals.
