Supertab is looking for a mid-level or higher Frontend Engineer to join our fully distributed tech team full time. You’ll work on various frontend applications, building new features, as well as maintaining and fixing existing code. Your tasks

You’ll Be Responsible For

Working within a cross functional team including a Product manager, UX designer and Backend developers to understand the requirements and scope that drive the design of technical solutions.
Writing reusable components and associated styling.
Writing unit and e2e tests.
Setting up and managing appropriate tooling.
Collaborating with the engineering team on API design and architecture of new features.
Assisting with the documentation of new features, and contributing to the documentation of existing ones.
Finding and addressing performance issues throughout the application.
Helping to identify and fix front-end bugs and issues.

About You

Our ideal candidate:

Has experience with modern React, Remix, and Vite:
It is very important that you are able to hit the ground running with our existing React-based UIs.
Has solid experience with TypeScript (ideally it is your default choice whenever you’re about to code something and you care about proper typing).
Has strong CSS skills with some experience with CSS-in-JS solutions (e.g. Emotion, Styled Components) as well as Tailwind CSS.
Has experience with XState or familiarity with the concept of state charts and state machines.
Has experience with CI/CD tooling (we use CircleCI).
Has experience with E2E testing, visual testing (we use Storybook and Chromatic), and unit testing in React codebases including creating mock data.
Can translate ideas into projects with discrete tasks.
Can give guidance & unblock others on their team/area.
Is sought out by others as a technical resource.
Seeks design, architecture or specialized input when needed (and knows when it’s needed).
Makes good, informed decisions around technical debt and tradeoffs.
Communicates with non-technical team members to understand needs and give technical advice.
Has a solid surface/contextual-level understanding of “the full web stack”.
Has a good command of English: written and verbal, producing and understanding.
As a distributed team, we primarily communicate via Slack, so the ability to clearly and completely communicate in written English is vital.
We also frequently hop on calls, both audio and video, so the ability to clearly speak and understand English is also vital.

Supertab is a team of 20+ people spread over 13+ countries in time zones from UTC-5 to UTC+2. We value your work more than your presence at a desk by 9am. Most of us work Monday to Friday, 7ish to 4ish UTC together in Slack. Working hours are flexible but we expect you to overlap for at least 4 hours between 9am and 4pm UTC. We aim for asynchronicity, but still need some "synchronicity" to work well.

We’ve been a fully distributed organization since our founding, and we’re pretty proud of the supportive remote culture we’ve created. We use Slack as our office, Jira for transparency and organizing work, and video calls for real-time collaboration (and just to hang out face to face).
