About The Role

The Enrollment Management Reporting Team (EMRT) at UNM is seeking a talented and innovative Web Designer to join our dynamic team. This full-time, staff position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing websites that support critical offices such as the Registrar, Admissions & Recruitment, and Financial Aid. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of creative design skills, technical proficiency, and project management capabilities. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to create engaging, accessible, and mobile-friendly websites that align with organizational goals. Your work will involve designing new web pages, updating existing content, troubleshooting technical issues, and analyzing website performance to continuously improve user experience.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, utilizing the latest web technologies and trends. During the probationary period, on-site training will be provided in the Enrollment Management Office. After successful completion, options for hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available, subject to departmental approval. The position is integral to ensuring that UNM’s web presence remains current, accessible, and aligned with institutional standards and user needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Proven experience in web design and development, with a strong portfolio of previous work
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and related web technologies
  • Experience with content management systems such as Cascade CMS or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.x, and best practices for inclusive design
  • Familiarity with web hosting control panels like cPanel
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and web quality assurance platforms like Siteimprove
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and HTTP methods
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance university websites and web-based content to ensure alignment with organizational standards and goals
  • Create, edit, organize, and adapt content for effective online presentation, ensuring clarity and engagement
  • Develop web pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and other relevant technologies
  • Maintain website structure, templates, links, images, and databases to ensure content accuracy and currency
  • Apply accessibility, usability, navigation, performance, and visual design standards to all web projects
  • Research emerging web technologies, standards, and trends to recommend and implement improvements
  • Troubleshoot website issues, resolve technical problems, and optimize site performance
  • Develop layouts and content for new website sections, features, and initiatives based on user needs and organizational priorities
  • Monitor and analyze website traffic, prepare reports, and utilize data to inform ongoing improvements
  • Manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities effectively, working independently and collaboratively as needed
