About The Role

As a Lead Product Designer within Target's Emerging Experiences team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Target’s digital landscape. Your role involves designing innovative, seamless, and engaging digital experiences that resonate with our guests and support business objectives. You will be responsible for transforming ideas into interactive prototypes and compelling storytelling that explore new guest experiences and emerging technologies. Your contributions will help define future-state journeys, conceptual models, and immersive storytelling to bring clarity to complex challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, brand, and stores—to prototype, test, and refine ideas that elevate the digital experience. As a leader, you will guide and mentor junior designers, uphold high standards of craft, and foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and human-centered design. Your work will directly influence how Target innovates and delights its guests through thoughtful, purposeful design that balances creativity with practicality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a product designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful product design work
• Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Principle, Framer, Cursor, and Lovable
• Experience participating in design sprints, early-stage concepting, or innovation labs
• Advanced strategic problem-solving and systems thinking skills
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively
• Strong understanding of accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design principles
• Ability to work comfortably in ambiguity and contribute to complex challenges across teams
• Passion for inclusive design and creating joyful, meaningful experiences at scale
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers is preferred

Responsibilities

• Participate in cross-functional design sprints to explore new guest experiences and emerging technologies
• Contribute to the development of future-state journeys and conceptual models through product design, prototyping, and visual storytelling
• Facilitate collaboration across multiple design and product teams, ensuring alignment and shared vision
• Create comprehensive design deliverables such as wireframes, user flows, UI designs, and prototypes that reflect the design process phase
• Guide and mentor junior designers, fostering a culture of curiosity, innovation, and high-quality craftsmanship
• Maintain high standards of design quality, including accessibility considerations, user research, information architecture, and interaction design
• Contribute to a collaborative environment that emphasizes human-centered design and continuous learning
• Utilize data and insights to inform design decisions and communicate design rationale effectively
