About The Role

Cala Health is seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to join our team and take ownership of the design of Cala’s digital experiences across web and mobile platforms. This role is critical in shaping the visual and interaction design language that ensures a coherent and engaging user experience. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and clinical teams to translate complex medical data and user needs into intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling interfaces. You will be responsible for end-to-end design execution, including wireframes, high-fidelity UI, interaction, and motion design, all while adhering to accessibility standards such as WCAG. Your work will directly impact how patients and clinicians interact with our products, ensuring usability, safety, and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, or related disciplines
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in digital UI/UX or product design, including shipped web and mobile products
• Experience designing healthcare platforms for patients and clinicians within HIPAA regulations and data privacy constraints
• Deep understanding of native mobile design standards such as Apple Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) and Google Material Design
• Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
• Experience with medical device usability engineering standards (IEC 62366, FDA Human Factors guidance)
• Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, variables, prototypes, and documentation practices
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, React, or SwiftUI to collaborate on feasibility assessments
• Experience conducting usability testing and validating design decisions
• Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design sensibility and comprehensive UX work across connected platforms
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments working closely with cross-functional teams
• Comfort with AI-assisted design tools for concept exploration and prototyping, with sound judgment on their application within regulated environments

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end visual design and user experience flows for Cala’s digital products on web and mobile (iOS/Android)
• Create wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interaction, and motion designs that meet accessibility and usability standards
• Design and develop data visualization dashboards and clinical insights displays that translate complex data into actionable information
• Establish and maintain Cala’s visual and interaction design language, including component libraries, design tokens, and version control systems
• Partner with product management and engineering teams to turn concepts into detailed, high-fidelity design documentation and prototypes
• Conduct user research, voice of customer interviews, and usability testing to validate and refine design solutions
• Design multimodal UI experiences, including notifications and feedback mechanisms across connected devices
• Author and maintain comprehensive UI/UX documentation, including specifications and redlines for engineering teams
• Lead cross-functional design reviews from concept through implementation and support scaling design operations in a regulated medical device environment
