About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our Time Series Data (TSD) team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, scaling, and maintaining the core platforms and services that support Cisco’s telemetry data infrastructure, including the flagship Meraki Dashboard product. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed systems and C++ development, with a passion for building high-performance, scalable, and reliable software solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Cisco to understand data requirements and help design systems that facilitate data-driven decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex infrastructure that handles millions of data points per second, contributing to the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical enterprise services.

Qualifications

• Experience analyzing, scaling, troubleshooting, and debugging distributed systems
• Proficiency in C++ development using C++11 or newer standards
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab or GitHub
• Hands-on experience deploying applications using containerization and Kubernetes
• Strong knowledge of relational database design and querying using SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Experience utilizing automated testing frameworks within the software development lifecycle
• Willingness to work in an agile environment, such as Scrum or Kanban
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, distributed enterprise software solutions supporting telemetry data services
• Build and optimize backend components in a Linux environment using C++
• Focus on enhancing system reliability, performance, scalability, and observability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Cisco to gather and understand data requirements
• Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines for efficient software deployment
• Maintain and query relational databases to support data storage and retrieval needs
• Contribute to automated testing and quality assurance processes to ensure robust software delivery
• Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and knowledge sharing sessions to foster continuous improvement
