Founded in Berlin in 2004, subtel addresses the need for high-quality replacement batteries that are often discontinued by original manufacturers. Under our brand CELLONIC®, we now serve customers in 13 countries, providing premium products that extend device lifespan, reduce costs, and support environmental sustainability. We are looking for an experienced E-Commerce UX Designer to join our team. Our customers typically have a clear goal: they need a specific product to solve a problem and have a high intent to purchase. Your primary task is to make their path to the right product as fast and easy as possible, in order to improve our conversion rate.
How We Work Together: A Practical Overview
Our process for improving the user experience is structured and collaborative. Here is what a typical project looks like:
- The Goal: Our process often starts with a business goal or an idea from our Category Managers. For example: "How can we improve the up-selling and cross-selling features in our shop?"
- Dialogue and Design Proposals: This stage is a dialogue. You can and should ask questions to fully understand the goal. Based on this shared understanding, you independently develop several design solutions. You will consider different parts of the customer journey where these improvements could be effective.
- Team Workshop: You present your proposals to our Product Manager and Magento Engineer. In this session, you explain the reasoning behind your ideas. Together, we discuss the options and select the 2-3 strongest designs to test. You will moderate this meeting.
- Implementation and Review: You prepare the final designs for our engineer. Before we start a test, you review the implementation to ensure it has been built correctly and matches your specifications.
- Testing and Analysis: We use our testing tool (VWO) to run A/B or multivariate tests. You will analyze the results to determine which solution performs best. We often test for different user segments, such as new vs. returning visitors or users from specific sources.
Your Profile and Expertise
We are looking for a designer who provides strategic input and works with data.
- Strategic Prioritization: You will use your experience to help us decide which projects in our backlog will have the greatest impact. We expect you to provide recommendations based on what you know works well for our specific combination of product and customer behavior.
- Deep E-commerce Knowledge: You understand the behavior of customers with high purchase intent and low involvement. You know how to design a user experience that is efficient and builds trust.
- Proven Experience: Your portfolio includes at least 10 e-commerce projects that show your ability to solve problems and improve key metrics.
- Figma Proficiency: You are highly skilled in Figma, especially in creating variants for testing and maintaining a component library.
- Familiarity with A/B Testing: You do not need experience in implementing tests in our tools; our Product Manager handles that. However, you must have a solid understanding of A/B testing principles to design effective, testable variants and help analyze the results.
- Clear Communication: You can clearly explain your design decisions to team members who are not designers.
