Job Description
The Community Manager, Social Media at K12 will oversee and expand the company’s online communities and social media presence. This role involves driving engagement, building relationships, and supporting K12’s educational mission across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube. The Manager will collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and customer service, to foster positive connections with students, families, and educators, ensuring timely responses to inquiries. Daily tasks include developing community growth strategies, managing feedback, conducting industry research, and supporting school marketing efforts, with a focus on proactive, customer-driven, and data-informed engagement.

- Community Expansion: Lead efforts to grow K12’s communities by identifying creative ways to engage new and existing members. Actively expand the community through organic strategies, partnerships, and educational content.
- Engagement & Moderation: Act as the primary point of contact for community engagement across K12’s social media platforms, responding to comments, messages, and community feedback. Ensure that all interactions reflect the brand's tone of voice and values to enhance bran reputation and drive advocacy.
- Content Strategy & Social Media Management: Develop proactive and reactive engagement strategies across all social media channels. Identify trends and opportunities to inform content development. Manage K12’s corporate social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, etc.), ensuring consistent brand messaging and voice.
- Customer Service & Enrollment Support: Partner with customer service and enrollment teams to address inquiries and concerns related to the K12 experience. Monitor social media channels outside of standard hours and collaborate on real-time crisis management and issue resolution.
- Community Growth for K12 Schools: Manage and nurture school-specific communities on social media, working closely with school marketing teams to drive local engagement and support school marketing initiatives.
- Reddit & School Community Engagement: Oversee the K12 presence on Reddit and other relevant forums. Cultivate meaningful interactions, drive discussions, and address concerns within these specialized communities.
- Competitive Research & Community Insights: Conduct ongoing research on competitor communities and social trends, ensuring K12 is at the forefront of community engagement and conversations. Provide regular insights to the social media and marketing teams.
- Internal Collaboration & School Marketing Liaison: Work closely with internal teams to drive school marketing initiatives through social channels. Act as the liaison between school marketing teams and corporate social media efforts, ensuring alignment on goals and messaging.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, PR, and Corporate Communications teams to align with broader marketing campaigns and school-specific initiatives.
- Content Creation & Publishing: Help develop and publish engaging organic social media posts aligned with K12’s strategic objectives. Support manual publishing of posts when needed to ensure timely updates and content distribution.

_Minimum Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in community management and/or social media management. Previous experience in education or ed-tech is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communication or relevant work experience
- Social Media Expertise: Proven track record in managing and growing social media communities across major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.).
- Engagement & Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect with diverse audiences and build meaningful, long-lasting relationships.
- Customer-Centric: Ability to provide exceptional customer service and act as a representative of K12’s brand across all platforms.
- Data-Driven: Ability to analyze social media metrics, draw insights, and adjust strategies accordingly to improve engagement and performance.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, PR, customer service, and sales teams to align on objectives and drive community engagement.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g.,Sprout Social, Meta Business, Google Analytics) and community engagement platforms (e.g., Reddit, Facebook Groups).
- Adaptable: Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment with the ability to adapt strategies quickly.
- Passion for Education: A genuine interest in online education and K12’s mission to support students and families.
- Highly organized: able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent presentation skills with ability to leverage technology effectively
- Experience leading and mentoring teams, with a focus on professional growth and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
- Ability to clear required background check
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the education (EdTech) or digital learning space.
- Content Creation: content creation skills, including copywriting and visual content (basic graphic design and video editing skills preferred, e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma).

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $57,519.75 to $121,792.80. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
